Mirjana Mimi Vlaovic is a London based writer director and festival director, born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia.
Her London Film School graduation film "Your Guardian" has won 9 awards and is available to watch at the Girls in Film website. With this film Mimi has also been shortlisted for Young Director Awards in Cannes last year, and 1.4 Awards of Brilliant Filmmaking in London.
Mimi has been in the Screenwriting Jury at the Watersprite Film Festival in Cambridge for the past two years, along with the Fine Line Film Festival in Belgrade last year.
Mimi has founded the Female Characters Film Fest which had its first edition in June 2024 in Belgrade at the Yugoslav Film Archive (Serbian BFI). The festival consisted of educational panels with industry professionals, short film screenings and Flip The Stereotype film workshops.
Taking inspiration from her novels and personal life, Mimi's works focus on female perspectives, cultural representation, trans generational patterns and content for children. She is seeking justice for hopeful endings in the world of art house cinema - hoping to inspire and never crush her audience's spirits.
