New Delhi, July 14 (Ians) Right-handed batter Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the India men’s T20 team in the upcoming Asian Games, set to be held from September 19 to October 8 in Hangzhou, China.
The 15-member squad announced by the Bcci also include Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma, all of whom are uncapped in T20 cricket.
With the men’s Odi World Cup scheduled to begin in India on October 5, two days before the end of the Asian Games cricket competition, the selectors have named a second-string men’s side.
Only six players from the T20I squad for the Caribbean and USA tour — Jaiswal, Tilak, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan — have been picked in this squad for the Asian Games.
Notably, this is the first India call-up for Uttar Pradesh batter Rinku, who had a very successful Ipl 2023 for Kolkata Knight Riders. On the other hand,...

Mumbai, May 12 (Ians) Gujarat Titans (Gt) won the toss and elected to bowl first against Mumbai Indians (Mi) in an Ipl 2023 match at the Wankhede Stadium, here on Friday. Both sides remain unchanged.
“We will bowl first. Looks like a good wicket, dew could have an effect, so chasing could be ideal. We realise the importance of every game, just need to stick to our plans and play good cricket.
It’s important to learn the lessons from your losses, rectify and don’t repeat it. You do make mistakes in such a long tournament. God has been kind with our injuries. Same team as the last game,” Gt skipper Hardik Pandya said at the toss.
Mi captain Rohit Sharma said: “We would have done the same thing(bowl) , we need to bat and bowl really well. Things are coming along nicely in the last few games. We understand where we stand at the moment,...

Ahmedabad, March 24 (Ians) R Sai Kishore, the left-arm spin all-rounder of Gujarat Titans, believes that the impact player rule, set to be introduced from the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League (Ipl), will be easy to handle for the teams in 20 overs, as compared to the 14 overs mark in Indian domestic circuit.
The impact player rule was trialled in last year’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and will be now used in Ipl 2023, starting from March 31. Teams have to name five substitutes apart from the playing eleven after the toss is conducted.
Out of the substitutes named, only one player can be used as an Impact Player. A team can bring an impact player before the start of the innings or after completion of an over. In case of a batter, the change can be done at the fall of the wicket or the batter retiring at any time during the over.
