Andrew was raised on a cattle property outside of Tamworth, Australia. The oldest of four children he spent his younger years in what would appear to most as a scene from 'Lord of the Flies'. When he wasn't teaching his ex-race horse 'Caddie' to muster cattle, he used his wild imagination to amuse and entertain his younger siblings, usually ending with all of them stuck in a tree in a far off paddock with no way down. A child at heart, whenever home on his family property he still musters cattle on his horse and has made a career out of his wild imagination.
His fascination for the theatre and acting began at 15 when he went to boarding school in Sydney. He fell into Drama class accidentally with a mix up schedules at his new school, but seeing a theatre as more enticing than a Math class he stayed. After a few months students were given the opportunity to write and perform their own monologues and it was then that he realized that one could make a life out of using his imagination. He attended every play he could afford at Belvoir and Sydney Theatre Company, it was the first live entertainment he had attended and he was hooked.
After school at 19, he was accepted into the prestigious Australian acting academy, WAAPA (Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts) where he commenced his 3 years of formal training.
Prior to completing his training Andrew starred in the ABC3 Television remake of one of his favorite childhood book series, John Marsden's 'Tomorrow When the War Began' as Kevin. It was after this series that he played Wilco in Robert Connolly's hit ABC drama mini series 'Barracuda'.
Andrew has trained under some of the most renowned acting practitioners in the world, such as Lisa Robertson, Les Chantery, Nancy Banks and Allen Barton.
Now when home he spends his spare time writing, gardening and in the ocean.
