Rodrigo Baumgartner Ayres was born on October 25th, 1985, in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, to Maria Francisa Baumgartner Dornelles, a gynecologist and obstetrician; and Valdir Camargo Ayres, an intensivist physician. In 2012 he acquired a bachelors degree in advertising and marketing through ESPM in Brazil and in 2013 moved to NYC to study filmmaking at the New York Film Academy. His directing career began when his first student films 'Game of E-Motion and 'Pedro be Home' were accepted into local NYC festivals. In 2015 he directed his first feature film called 'Winter Has No Sun' and his most acclaimed short film 'Felices Acá en New York (Happy Here in New York), which was accepted in several NYC festivals and earned him his first awards. In 2016 he debuted on theatre, directing and writing short plays produced by the Acting Studio in NYC. His newest short films to be released in 2018/2019 are titled 'To New Beginnings' (comedy); 'Not a Love Story' (comedy); 'The Wolves we Feed' (drama); and 'My Gift to You (drama).
