Joy Ngiaw is a Malaysian composer for film and TV. She first gained recognition for Blush (2021) (Apple TV+), Skydance Animation's inaugural short film, which earned her the Best Music Award from Hollywood Music in Media and an Annie nomination in 2021. She later received a second Annie nomination for her score on the sci-fi adventure trilogy WondLa (2024) (Apple TV+), collaborating with industry icon John Lasseter (Toy Story (1995) ). Joy also made history as the youngest composer to score a major studio logo for Skydance Animation. Her other credits include Netflix/CBS's Glamorous (2023), Mattel/Netflix's Barbie Mysteries: The Great Horse Chase (2024), Walt Disney Animation's Jing Hua (2020) and Netflix's Rescued by Ruby (2022).
In 2022, Joy was nominated for the prestigious David Raksin Award for Emerging Talent by the Society of Composers and Lyricists. She was also one of eight composers selected for the competitive NBCUniversal Composers Initiative and was named a BAFTA Breakthrough USA honoree in 2024, solidifying her place as a leading voice among the new generation of film composers. Beyond her work, she advocates for diversity and inclusion as the Industry Relations Chair on the executive board of the Composers Diversity Collective, championing underrepresented voices in the film scoring industry.
