Vincent Guilbert was born on June 2, 1976 in Saint-Denis, Seine-Saint-Denis, France.
Graduated from the EICAR (International Film and Television School of Paris) in 1999, he has lived and worked mainly in Japan since 2006. His films, shot in digital or Super 8, range from fragmented temporality long-feature (The Peony's Whisper (2016)) to experimental essays (Kyôbô na made no chinmoku (2017)) or artist portraits (Jolie Chanson (2015), Gestures (2017)), and are sometimes at the border of documentary and fiction (Of her Kingdom (2019)).
The themes that are developed are essentially linked to time, memory and the fragment.
