“We’re either going to season 4 or season 5. It’s still being debated. I do know the arc of the story, though. This was something that I discussed with [show creators] the Duffer brothers right from Day One. I feel very proud of that because we’re not going to get sort of lost in

Odin’s Eye revs up distribution in Oz, starting with ‘Wheely’

Odin’s Eye Animation is launching Wheely, a computer-animated action comedy produced by South-East Asia’s Kartun Studios in Australian cinemas next month, kicking off a plan to release three to four titles each year.

The initiative by the sister company of Odin’s Eye Entertainment is counter-cyclical while most indie distributors are trimming their release slates.

“We’ve found there is room in the marketplace for a strategy such as ours,” says Martin Gallery, Odin’s Eye Entertainment head of international sales and distribution.

“We’re focusing on super-commercial, studio quality animated features. The only way audiences would notice they’re indie films would be the lack of a major studio’s logo at the start. No one cares how the film was financed as long as it’s polished, accessible and tells a good, fast-paced story. We do our research and only acquire titles that are as close as possible to a no-brainer.

Netflix Would Like Hollywood To Know It’s A Star Factory
Updated with comments from Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings observed that the streaming giant has come a long way since it launched the original series, House of Cards, five years ago. This year, he noted, it collected 112 Emmy nominations for 40 of its shows, documentaries and specials, and tied the long dominant premium TV channel, HBO, for the most wins (23).

“We’re also thrilled that Netflix has been a launching pad for a new generation of global stars like Millie Bobby Brown, Jacob Elordi, Noah Centineo and Gaten Matarazzo,” said Hastings. “When our service helps our talent develop huge fan bases … we can attract the best talent in the world.”

Netflix took the extraordinary step of charting the social media ascent of

PETA Announces First-Ever TV Awards

Just ahead of the Emmys on September 17, PETA's Animals in Film and Television Division is announcing its first-ever Elly Awards, honoring some of television’s most compassionate stars and shows for promoting animal-friendly storylines and for entertaining viewers without exploiting wild animals.

Winners include Lily Tomlin, who scored the award for Best Lead in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of vegetarian Frankie in Netflix’s Grace and Frankie and whose real-life work in behalf of animals includes using her sense of humor to protest against SeaWorld and her sense of justice to object to Texas A&M University’s cruel muscular dystrophy experiments on dogs. Best Lead in a Drama Series is a tie between Chrissy Metz of This Is Us — for her character Kate’s promotion of homeless-animal adoption — and actor and real-life vegetarian Gaten Matarazzo, whose character in the sci-fi hit Stranger Things shows compassion in caring for “Dart” the demogorgon.

‘Stranger Things’: How VFX Made Season 2 ‘A Beautiful Hell’ By Introducing New, Scarier Monsters
Building on the first season’s gloom and doom, “Stranger Things” returned for an even creepier second season, thanks to the introduction of the Shadow Monster baddie and its shape-shifting Demogorgon minions.

This meant that the show’s VFX had to raise the bar with greater use of CG characters (Hydraulx) and a mind blowing cavern (Atomic Fiction) for the Emmy-nominated finale (“Chapter Nine: The Gate”).

“This season they wanted more characters, so the Duffer brothers wanted the visual effects to be more polished [and gross],” said Paul Graff, senior visual effects supervisor. The volcanic lightning storm that introduces the giant, spider-like Shadow Monster (also referred to as the Mind Flayer) sets the chilling tone for the return of a more menacing Upside Down.

But most of the heavy lifting involved the CG Dart

One of the stars of Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown, hopes that her character Eleven loses her powers.

There’s no question that Stranger Things is one of the most speculated about shows on TV right now and when it comes to what might occur in the much anticipated season three, this is doubly true.

One person who has a few hopes for what might occur in the future is Millie Bobby Brown, who stars as super-powered Eleven on the show. Speaking to Variety, the young actress described what she hopes happens to her character:

“I think Eleven should sacrifice herself in some way. That’s how I kind of want that situation to go. I want to have her really sacrifice her powers. If Eleven loses her powers, is she as powerful just as a character? I think that would be very cool. I want to build her to

David Harbour on Hopper’s fatherly journey in Stranger Things season 3

One of the big surprises to come out of the second season of Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things was the relationship between David Harbour’s Chief Hopper and Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven as Hopper took her in and protected her from the dark forces lurking in Hawkins. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Harbour teased what’s in store for Hopper in the upcoming third season of Stranger Things now that he has legitimately adopted Eleven as his daughter.

“I wish I could characterize the season, but to me it’s so big,” Harbour said. “For example, did you find last season to be darker? There were certainly elements of it that were scary, but I thought there was also a lot of fun, a lot of joy and a lot of silliness, with Steve being a dad and the kids as Ghostbusters. Just taking my story, for example,

New Stranger Things Season 3 Set Pics Feature The Whole Gang

It only took two seasons (and a truckload of Eggos) for Stranger Things to cement its status as a Netflix staple.

Inspired by some of the movie greats of yesterday (and starring the stars of tomorrow), the 80s-set sci-fi series is all about the quaint town of Hawkins, Indiana, which finds itself smack bang in the middle of a government conspiracy after the local energy department begins experimenting with forces beyond their control.

And so, the Upside Down was born. It’s the realm in which dark and evil things fester, and though Eleven and the gang were able to fend off the Shadow Monster and his pack of Demodogs during season 2, Stranger Things season 3 will once again blur the line between our world and the next, resulting in a whole new saga of thrills and supernatural spills.

But it doesn’t all have to be doom and gloom; over on Just Jared,
