Mikki Bennett was born and raised in Overland Park, Kansas. She found her passion for film in her high school, Blue Valley North's Broadcast and Broadcast 2 courses. During her senior year of high school (2011) she was accepted into the filmmaking strand of Blue Valley's Center for Advanced Professional Studies (CAPS). It was during her time in the program that she truly knew film was for her. She partnered with local companies to create promotional videos, while working on creative projects as well.
Upon completion of high school, Mikki went on to the University of Kansas to continue pursuing film. She was accepted into the Film and Media Studies major program at KU by her second semester of college. She quickly decided to push through college fast, and reorganized her plans to graduate a year early. During her final semester at KU, she finished 6 of her remaining credits through internships in the industry. She acted as an assistant editor/intern for Kansas City filmmaker, Gary Huggins' feature, Kick Me. In addition, she was hired onto the set of Wake Up, Kansas' sizzle reel as a makeup intern. Makeup transitioned into helping with costuming, set design, call sheets and scene break downs. Following the completion of these internships and her graduation from The University of Kansas with her Bachelors degree in Film and Media Studies with a minor in Communications, Mikki continued her internship with the producer of Wake Up, Kansas, by assisting in a documentary about Wakarusa Camping and Music Festival. This research internship evolved into traveling to the festival and acting as the UPM of the production.
Nearly a month after the festival, Mikki finally packed up and moved to Los Angeles to begin following her goals in the entertainment industry. She began working as a production assistant for PrettyBird and quickly after arriving to LA and picking up as a PA, she landed a full-time editor position at Entertainment Studios. Mikki Bennett is a young, independent and quick-learning woman who is eager to continue pushing herself to accomplish her dreams and expand her experience within the industry.
