Kartikye Gupta
Kartikye, born in India and based in Los Angeles, had a strong interest in visual storytelling at an early age. His grandfather made a movie in Bollywood in 1975. Kartikye's father also, being a successful television producer, gave Kartikye a chance to be a part of his production meetings at the age of 9. He was hooked. To pursue filmmaking, Gupta enrolled at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles and completed Bachelors of Fine Arts in Filmmaking. Currently, he's completing his MFA in Editing from the American Film Institute as the youngest student in AFI's history. His films received appreciation at several major film festivals around the globe, including official selection in 40 film festivals including Idyllwild Film Festival, Marina Del Rey Film Festival, Miami Film Festival with his last short titled "Dr. Elevator" which was also on Vimeo's staff pics. It was also recognized by JuVee Productions, headed by Viola Davis and was screened in major cities including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Fransisco. His previous work, "Please Don't Call the Cops" premiered at the South Asian film festival in New York, where it was also nominated for the HBO award. Coming from a South Asian background, his films revolve around the immigrant experience of South Asians in the United States.
