Becky Baihui Chen is a Chinese cinematographer based in Los Angeles. Chen believes that film can inspire social change and empower individuals, and her enthusiasm for intimate stories has led her to work on projects all over the world.
Her fiction narrative work has covered a wide range of genres, from political drama to steampunk fantasy. Her lenses have explored the plight of the LGBTQ+ community in China and the effects of diseases such as ALS and Alzheimer's.
Chen lensed indie feature I'm FINE, Thanks for Asking which World Premiered at SXSW in 2021. Her short film credits include Welcome Back (HollyShorts Best Live Action Short Film Winner) and Clarity (Mammoth Film Festival Grand Jury Award Winner).
Chen received her MFA in Film & TV Production from the USC School of Cinematic Arts. She is an ASC Heritage Award Nominee and a Film Independent Project Involve Cinematography Fellow.
