The Salem witch trials are brought screaming into the 21st century through the lens of the modern teenage experience. This is the story of how the town “lost its f-ing mind.” With its cellphone alerts and glitchy, grindy soundtrack, it’s a snapshot of youth today. It will date instantly, of course. But right now it’s enough to make you ditch your smartphone and go back to the 3310. Assassination Nation is a sensory shotgun to the face. It’s multi-layered and it feels vital.

The highly fractured story gravitates around four high school friends. Popular and trendy, they lead their private lives, share some of it online, and then come together and chat about the bits they shared.

Tom Cruise reportedly learning to actually fly fighter jets for Top Gun: Maverick

Despite the fact that cameras have been rolling on Top Gun: Maverick, it was announced back in August that production on the sequel to the 80s action classic would be going on hiatus, with Paramount pushing back the release of the film a year to 2020.

At the time, it was reported that the delay was to allow its cast more time for training, and if a report from The Sun is to be believed, it seems that training may involve Tom Cruise actually learning to fly fighter jets for his second outing as Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell.

“Tom is well known for doing his own stunts and the Top Gun sequel is no different,” claims The Sun’s ‘source’. “He prides himself on making the action sequences as realistic as possible… He won’t film all the flight sequences, it’s too dangerous, but he will fly some, making him the

Top Gun 2 Script Gets an Assist from Mission: Impossible - Fallout Director

Top Gun 2 Script Gets an Assist from Mission: Impossible - Fallout Director
It looks like Tom Cruise has brought in one of his favorite collaborators to help polish up the script for Top Gun 2: Maverick. Christopher McQuarrie, who most recently wrote/directed Mission: Impossible - Fallout, has been brought on board to do a little additional script work on the highly-anticipated sequel to the 80s classic that helped make Cruise a star. Since the movie was recently delayed by a full year, it apparently gave them a bit of time to some polishing. What's another year for those who have been waiting to see this since 1986?

During a recent interview, while they didn't touch on the topic too much, Tom Cruise revealed that Christopher McQuarrie has been brought in to work on Top Gun 2: Maverick. This isn't meant to be cause for concern. The main script is done. It appears as though McQuarrie is just going to be adding some touches and doing a punch-up.

Zimmer, who has previously worked on Tom Cruise movies such as Rain Man, Days of Thunder and Mission: Impossible II will be joining the original Top Gun score creator Harold Faltermeyer.

The follow up to Tony Scott’s 1986 action outing will see Cruise return as Maverick, who has never lost that loving feeling for his need for speed, is set to return as a flight instructor to a whole host of young Geese, Icemen and Mavericks wanting to follow in his almighty flight footsteps. The official website for Hans Zimmer has revealed that the Oscar-winning composer will be teaming with Harold Faltermeyer, composer on the original Top Gun, to score the 2020 sequel Top Gun: Maverick.

Lff 2018: ‘Assassination Nation’ Review

Stars: Odessa Young, Hari Nef, Suki Waterhouse, Abra, Colman Domingo, Bill Skarsgård, Joel McHale, Anika Noni Rose, Bella Thorne, Maude Apatow, Cody Christian, Danny Ramirez | Written and Directed by Sam Levinson

High school senior Lily and her crew of besties live in a haze of texts, posts, selfies, and chats – just like the rest of us. So when a provocateur starts posting details from the private digital lives of everyone in their small town of Salem, the result is a Category 5 shitstorm. We’re talking browser histories, direct messages, illegal downloads, secret text chains, and way, way, way worse. People get angry. Like, “rampaging murder posse” angry. And Lily finds herself right in the middle.

Sam Levinson’s Assassination Nation is one, if not the most, destructive, controversial and operatic films ever of such an excessive and progressive nature. Deconstructing and reconstructing itself in the wake of a complete bombardment

Second Opinion – Assassination Nation (2018)

Assassination Nation, 2018.

Written and Directed by Sam Levinson.

Starring Odessa Young, Hari Nef, Suki Waterhouse, Abra, Colman Domingo, Bill Skarsgård, Joel McHale, Anika Noni Rose, Bella Thorne, Maude Apatow, Danny Ramirez, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Noah Galvin, Susan Misner, Lukas Gage, Jeff Pope, Joe Chrest, J.D. Evermore, and Cody Christian.

Synopsis:

After a malicious data hack exposes the secrets of the perpetually American town of Salem, chaos decends and four girls must fight to survive, while coping with the hack themselves.

As many of you can probably understand, critics do not watch movies in a bubble, meaning that when Assassination Nation began with a “trigger warning” montage creating awareness that we are about to see pretty much every politically incorrect activity imaginable, I had Ptsd flashbacks to watching Life Itself a week ago, a movie that shoehorns every kind of conceivable trauma in a hokey, convoluted, and unearned way to generate emotion.

Top Gun 2 Gets Delayed by Almost a Year

Top Gun 2: Maverick is going to take a little bit longer to complete than previously thought. Paramount announced today that they are pushing the sequel back from July of 2019 to June of 2020. The project is currently filming and has been making additions to the cast over the last several weeks. The studio cites "extensive visual effects work and complicated flight scenes" as the reasoning for the 11 month delay of the film. The studio did not provide any other details on the nature of the production delay.

News of the Top Gun 2 delay comes a week after it was announced that Jon Hamm and Ed Harris had been added to the cast. It isn't clear who Hamm and Harris will be playing in the sequel, but they bring in some pretty big star power to a movie that was already packed with great actors. Charles Parnell, Jay Ellis, Bashir Salahuddin,
