Tennis icon Serena Williams and her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, welcomed their second child together, Adira River Ohanian.
It’s the second daughter for the two, which was confirmed in an Instagram post by Williams. The couple publicly revealed they were expecting a second child at the Met Gala in May.
Williams and Ohanian became engaged in 2016 and welcomed their first child, Alexis Olympia, in September 2017; they tied the knot two months later in November 2017.
The growth of their family comes a year after Williams retired from her tennis career. One of the reasons she decided to step away was for her family.

A year after it burst onto the scene and all but demanded viewers’ attention, FX’s critically acclaimed series “The Bear” is back for seconds. And it’s just in time to remind Emmy voters how delectable the first season was.
Created by Christopher Storer, the show stars former “Shameless” Mvp Jeremy Allen White as Carmy Berzatto, an award-winning chef who returns to Chicago to take over his late brother’s (Jon Bernthal) failing sandwich shop and, in the process, confront his past. White has already taken home the Critics’ Choice, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Awards for his performance, which puts him in great position to snag an Emmy nomination for Best Comedy Actor next month even without the timely debut of Season 2. Still, the new episodes certainly don’t hurt.

Netflix’s Break Point is a superb documentary series created by Paul Martin and James Gay-Rees, which takes us into the world of professional tennis through its most promising aspirants.
The second part of this documentary series arrives in June, applying formulas seen in other sports documentaries like “Drive to Survive” and successfully bringing it to the world of tennis.
The first part was a huge success, and we expect no less from this second installment, which features a few privileged tennis players such as Nick Kyrgios, Thanasi Kokkinakis, and Matteo Berrettini, putting the world of tennis in the palm of our hands.
This documentary aims to take us beyond a television broadcast and make us truly part of the frenetic world of professional sports through aspirants who aim to dethrone the three great legends who have reigned in the last decade.

Formula 1: Drive to Survive is one of my favorite oddball word-of-mouth Netflix success stories — an unscripted show that got no particular critical attention when it premiered in 2019, only to reliably pop up in casual conversations and unexpected contexts, almost always with a preamble resembling, “I wasn’t interested in Formula 1 racing before, but…”
That series, which has now aired four seasons, found traction beyond racing aficionados with its high-octane photography and intimate access to drivers who, in the course of any given race, would normally be masked enigmas driving serpentine courses in exotic locales. While much of the world is obviously obsessed with Formula One as a sport, the Drive to Survive team passed an array of barriers of entry when it came to capturing American interest, and did it with aplomb.
For their follow-up, producers Paul Martin and James Gay-Rees have set a seemingly “easier” task with the...

Glasgow (Scotland), Nov 14 (Ians) Switzerland lifted the Billie Jean King Cup title in Glasgow, with Belinda Bencic and Jil Teichmann notching singles wins against Australia to grab the women’s championship for the first time.
In a rematch of last year’s semifinals, Jil Teichmann and reigning Olympic champion Belinda Bencic combined for singles wins to give the Swiss an unassailable 2-0 lead against Australia on Sunday.
In the opening match, Teichmann outlasted this week’s breakthrough player Storm Sanders 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. Bencic then followed with a swift 6-2, 6-1 win over Ajla Tomljanovic to clinch the trophy.
“We were finalists last year and we were so heartbroken,” Bencic said on the court after wrapping up the week.
“But in the locker room (Teichmann) came to me and said ‘Next year, we’re going to do it, we’re going to take it. And we did, I’m so proud.

Glasgow (Scotland), Nov 12 (Ians) Australia stormed into the championship match at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals for the 19th time in their history, with Storm Sanders notching singles and doubles wins over home team Britain in a semifinal tie that could not have been closer.
Sanders defeated Heather Watson 6-4, 7-6(3) in the opening singles match, but Britain’s Harriet Dart leveled affairs by upsetting Ajla Tomljanovic 7-6(3), 6-2.
It came down to the decisive doubles match, where Sanders returned and paired with Samantha Stosur to eke out a whisker-thin 7-6(1), 6-7(5), [10-6] victory over Brits Alicia Barnett and Olivia Nicholls.
Australia will now face either Switzerland or the Czech Republic in Sunday’s championship tie. The Swiss and the Czechs play the second semifinal tie, later on Saturday.

When Serena Williams announced in August that she was “evolving” out of tennis — a term she found to be softer than retirement — it was with a heavy heart. “I’m torn,” she said at the time. “I don’t want it to be over, but at the same time I’m ready for what’s next.”
Now, the tennis icon has decided that it doesn’t have to be over if she doesn’t want it to be. During a press conference in San Francisco Monday, Oct. 21, Williams declared: “I am not retired.

Guadalajara (Mexico), Oct 20 (Ians) Former No 1 Victoria Azarenka advanced to the Round of 16 at the Guadalajara Open Akron after top seed Paula Badosa was forced to retire due to illness, here.
The 33-year-old Azarenka will face No 13 seed Madison Keys next.
Playing flawless tennis from the baseline, Azarenka built a quick 4-0 lead before Badosa got on the board. Struggling physically, Badosa called the trainer at the 4-1 changeover to discuss her options but opted to play on.
After Azarenka closed out the set with an ace at 6-2, Badosa retired due to illness on Wednesday night.
“You never want anybody to retire, we go out here to compete and do our best. It’s really sad that Paula wasn’t able to finish the match,” Azarenka said on the court.

I hope she recovers quickly. I’m sure we’re going to have a few more matches to play,...

Ostrava (Czech Republic), Oct 5 (Ians) No 1 seed Iga Swiatek on Wednesday became the first player to reach the Ostrava Open 2022 quarterfinals after qualifier Ajla Tomljanovic was forced to retire due to a left knee injury trailing 7-5, 2-2, here.
Playing her first match since lifting her third Grand Slam trophy at the US Open, Swiatek found herself embroiled in a tight tussle against Tomljanovic before the Australian started to ail in the second set. Tomljanovic began to clutch her knee in the second game of the second set, and called it quits after holding serve to level at 2-2.
Prior to that, Tomljanovic had been pushing the Pole to the limit. Swiatek raced out of the blocks, in complete command of her game and dominating play as she leapt out to 4-1. She came up with a series of spectacular winners to come two points from a 5-1 lead, but...

The 2022 US Open is officially underway, and so far, it's been a star-studded event, with tons of celebrities heading to Flushing, Queens - especially back on night one to watch Serena Williams begin playing in what she's said was her last professional tennis tournament. On Aug. 29, Williams faced off against Danka Kovinić in the first round and beat her in straight sets. Of course, Williams's husband Alexis Ohanian and daughter Olympia were on hand for the special night, but they weren't the only big-name attendees in the stands. Other celebs like Trevor Noah, Naomi Watts, Ben Simmons, Bella Hadid, Hugh Jackman, Anthony Anderson, Ashley Graham, Queen Latifah, and more have all attended the Grand Slam tournament over its ongoing two-week run.
On Aug. 31, Williams continued her victory streak when she deftly defeated Estonia's Anett Kontaveit, the No. 2 seed, in the second round of the tournament. Unfortunately, Williams fell in the third round on Sept.

Serena Williams’ US Open finale against Ajla Tomljanovic last Friday scored a record 4.8 million viewers, ESPN said Tuesday, making it the the most-watched tennis telecast in the cabler’s 43-year-history.
The presumed swan song for the tennis superstar, in the tournament’s third round at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York, averaged 4.6 million viewers (P2+).
It didn’t matter that Williams lost to Australia’s Tomljanovic 7-5, 6-7, 6-1. Fans were just happy to see her play — perhaps for the last time — as she bid an emotional farewell after 27 years to her home country’s Grand Slam.

Celebs are rallying around Serena Williams after she played and lost what is likely her final pro tennis match of her career. On Sept. 2, the athlete, considered the greatest female tennis star of all time, exited the 2022 U.S. Open Sept. 2 after a 7-5 6-7(4) 6-1 third-round loss to Ajla Tomljanovic, the 46th ranked Australian player. The match took place almost a month after Serena wrote in a Vogue essay that she plans to say goodbye to the sport and has been trying to have a second child. When asked at a post-game press conference what would it take for her to return to tennis, she said, "I don't know. I'm not thinking about that...Clearly, I'm still...

Serena Williams dropped her third-round U.S. Open match to Ajla Tomljanović, likely bringing an end to her storied career.
Tomljanović needed a little over three hours Friday night at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, New York to defeat Williams 7-5, 6-7(4), 6-1 to advance to the round of 16. Williams, widely considered the greatest player to ever play the sport, roared back in the second set following a huge momentum swing. But Williams struggled early in the third set, and it seemed all but inevitable that her sensational comeback would fall short.
Following the defeat, Williams was asked what everyone in the world wants to know: is this the end?
“I mean, I’m literally playing my way into this and getting better,” she said. “I don’t think so but you never know. I don’t know.”
Tomljanović paid her respects to Williams following her impressive win.
What a ride it’s been.

Serena Williams wasn’t expected to win the Grand Slam title at the 2022 U.S. Open. Far from it. She turns 41 later this month, and recently announced her plans to retire from tennis to focus on her family and business pursuits. She’s been dogged by an injury that took her out of competition for a year before her comeback at Wimbledon in June, where she lost in the first round. Some fans even expressed surprise that she returned to play again, with many wishing the Goat could just retire...

The end came suddenly for Serena Williams in tonight’s US Open singles match. But she battled until the last point. Now the question remains if we have seen the last of one of the greatest women’s tennis players of all-time.
With the capacity Flushing Meadows crowd roaring on every Williams shot and groaning when she missed, Williams staved off match point six times in the third set during her match against Croatian-Australian Ajla Tomljanovic. She eventually fell in the third set 7-5, 6-7, 6-1.
Williams acknowledged the crowd cheers when it all ended, raising her hand to thank her fans. In a tearful post-match interview, she said, “Thank you so much. I tried.” She thanked her father and former coach, and “everyone who has been on my side so many years. It all started with my parents. And it all started with them, and I’m really grateful to them.

New York, Sep 2 (Ians) The pair of Venus and Serena Williams, in perhaps their final appearance together on the tennis court, lost to Lucie Hradecka and Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic 7-6 (5), 6-4 to bow out in the first round of the US Open women’s doubles competition on Friday (Ist).
Lucie Hradecka, 37, and Linda Noskova, 17, despite the age gap, gelled well at the sold-out Arthur Ashe Stadium to demolish the 14-time doubles Grand Slam champions after the first set went on for a marathon 63 minutes.
The legendary pair quickly packed their kits, waved briefly to the crowd and walked together to the locker room.
The soon-to-be retiring Serena will play Ajla Tomljanovic on Australia in women’s singles for a spot in the Round of 16.
Venus said post-match that it was Serena’s idea to play doubles.
“She’s the boss,” Venus was quoted as saying by wtatennis.

New York, Sep 1 (Ians) After advancing to the US Open’s second round, Serena Williams was asked if her opening victory had answered any questions she might have had about her ability to compete at the age of nearly 41.
“I don’t think I had any questions,” she said.
Williams defeated World No.2 Anett Kontaveit 7-6(4), 2-6, 6-2 on Wednesday before another raucous, rollicking record crowd at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Again facing the last singles match of her glorious career, she moved better and played freer than she has in recent outings.
For the second straight match, Williams’ opponent seemed more unnerved by the momentous circumstances, particularly in critical moments, than she did. After the high emotions of the opening night spectacle, she was more composed and consistent against a far better player ranked 78 spots higher.
“It’s no rush here. I am loving this crowd. I’m a pretty good player.

There’s a reason they call her the Greatest Of All Time.
During Serena Williams‘ post-game interview following her U.S. Open win against Estonian tennis player, Anett Kontaveit, Wednesday night, she was asked if she was surprised with herself with her “level” of play at the moment.
And Williams, who had just come off a first-round win Tuesday, had the best response.
“What?” Williams asked.
“Are you surprised at yourself with your level?” the reporter asked, repeating her initial question.
Williams simply smirked and chuckled, prompting the reporter to realize that she may have already known the answer to that question.
“No, I know,” the reporter replied
“I mean, I’m just Serena, you know,” the tennis great said.

Cincinnati, Aug 16 (Ians) Amanda Anisimova passed her difficult opening-round test at the Western & Southern Open with flying colours, defeating world number 10 Daria Kasatkina 6-4, 6-4 on Monday.
Ekaterina Alexandrova mounted a pair of comebacks to defeat No.13 seed Leylah Fernandez, 6-4, 7-5 in the first round.
Alexandrova will face either Naomi Osaka or Zhang Shuai in the second round.
Playing her first tournament since Berlin, Alexandrova rallied from 3-0 down in the first set and 5-1 down in the second set to upend Fernandez and level their head-to-head 1-1. Fernandez served for the second set twice, but Alexandrova wiped out two set points to prolonge the set, ultimately winning the last six games of the match.
Russia’s Kasatkina, who has beaten two of the world’s top-seven players in the past couple of weeks, had her serve broken six times by America’s Anisimova, thanks in large part to five double faults.
