It all starts on the family piano with some improvised notes. Then comes the Conservatoire de Lyon, where Hervé follows a classical apprenticeship, but that does not satisfy him entirely. His dream is elsewhere. He becomes the student of Japanese bandmaster Tateo Nakajima, who teaches him the art of writing for orchestra. His quest for musical excellence is revealed.
Spotted for his sense of musical elegance, Hervé Cohen writes his first compositions for short films and commercials for brands such as L'Oréal or Hermès.
Come the 1980s. Hervé Cohen starts work with the video game publisher Infogrames. The goal of this association is to give a cinematographic musical dimension to his productions. It contributes to the success of Alone in the Dark and Prisoner of Ice, which are sold in millions of copies worldwide. The publishing company then entrusts him with the direction of a music production studio in Los Angeles.
Hervé Cohen returns to Paris where he creates his own studio, dedicated to musical production. Discreet on his course of _Ghostwriter_, he prefers to express himself in his collaborations rather than in the pages of the specialized press.
Lately, his work can be heard on television : Arte documentary, Shri Shri Ravi Sankar. On record: Past single Klaus Schulze. In Movies : Black Night by Geoffroy Thiebaut, Your Papers please Daniel Jenny and Love, disenchanted Dominique Bachy.
2017: He collaborates on various projects with the singer Christophe, among which the soundtrack of the movie « M » directed by Sara Forrestier.
2018: New productions : Pirates of the Bells by Francesco Alessandro de Blasi and God's Soldier by Jean-Marc Mine. Hervé Cohen receives, at the Southern Short Festival (Georgia, USA), the Sound Design Award for the soundtrack of Your Papers Please.
