Eion Smith was born in Stratford, Ontario. Prior to his work in film he
first worked in theater production at the renown Stratford Festival
Theatre during much of his youth. After graduating high school he left
the art to pursue a degree from the University of Waterloo in
theoretical physics and applied mathematics. During his time there he
began applying his theatre knowledge to film and began work in the
industry. Near the end of his degree he left the program to work in
film full time. Since then he has moved to Toronto, Ontario, and
attends Humber's Film and Media Degree program. He works primarily as a
cinematographer, editor, and colorist.
