Joshua Winters(I)
- Director
- Editor
- Sound Department
Born in Royal Oak, MI, Joshua Winters is an Atlanta-based editor. He pursued a career in film after a failed attempt at studying computer science at University of West Georgia, creating short films that would go on to be screened at film festivals, including "Saturar" at the Atlanta Film Festival in 2014. In 2015, Joshua directed a series of comedic sketches for a production company in Smyrna, GA. One of those comedic shorts, "That One Alley," would garner him the honor of Best Sketch at the local Ladie's Night (the spelling is unintentionally wrong for humorous effect) event, which was a monthly comedy show that showcased submitted comedic sketches and had stand-up performances.
Joshua would continue to direct his own short films, with his most prominent short film being "A Lick of the Pile," a short film about an ambitious screenwriter that meets with an untidy producer. This would get accepted at the Terminus Conference + Festival event in 2017.
Eventually, Joshua veered toward a career of post-production, editing wedding videos and working for a creative agency in which he really cut his teeth as an editor. He worked on a multitude of different videos, from nonprofit videos to corporate ads to sizzle reels. He also became more familiar with motion graphics work, especially typography. This would lead him to become more interested in editing scripted film and/or television content.
