When there's a final season of a series, usually if there's characters we haven't seen in a while or that need to wrap up their stories in a way, a show will bring them back to say goodbye. It still hasn't hit me that Outlander season 8 is the final season on Starz. Though we will get there eventually, but one character won't be around in those final episodes.
Showrunner Matthew B. Roberts told TVLine that Jenny Fraser Murray, aka Jamie's headstrong sister and Young Ian's mom, will not be in Outlander season 8, aka the final season. Honestly since the historical drama changed up her plot from the books anyway, this makes sense.
Roberts shared that because the last season, which does not have a release date yet, is only 10 episodes, there's only so much story they could cover and adapt from Book 9, "Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone,...

There's only one season left before fans say goodbye to Outlander forever. No more Jamie. No more Claire. No more Jamie and Claire. We don't know exactly when the eighth and final season will air, but filming has been done for a while and the clock is ticking.
Outlander is based on a series of books by author Diana Gabaldon. By and large, the TV show has adapted one book per season. But with only one season left, it's going to have to skip over some of the source material. “The brief was: Nothing that doesn’t affect Jamie and Claire gets in. It’s gotta affect Jamie and Claire," co-showrunner Matthew B. Roberts told TVLine about the final season. He said that while the winding plots of the books make them "readable and fun...when you have 10 episodes, you have to stay literally on track.”
That means some things are going to get cut.

Most shows try to go out with a bang in their final season. Some bring back beloved characters and even integrate minor fan favorites into the narrative. But for Outlander, that won't be the case as the show concludes with Season 8. Outlander's co-showrunner Matthew B. Roberts revealed to TV Line that Jenny Fraser Murray (Kristin Atherton) will not appear in Season 8, a departure from the original events in the source material. Roberts explained that with fewer episodes in the final season, the show's creatives opted to focus on stories that had a direct impact on the main characters, Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitríona Balfe), and sadly, Jenny's was not one of them. He contrasted the show's lack of real estate to follow Diana Gabaldon's books, saying,...

Outlander is approaching its final season, so there is only so much time left for some of our favorite characters to return. While Jamie and Claire have consistently stood as the central protagonists of the Starz series, they have come to know dozens of additional characters over the years. Some of these have been friends and family, while others were instead mortal enemies. Still, each impacted Outlander's overarching story to the point that their absence has been a bit disappointing.
Many characters that have stopped appearing in the Outlander TV show are still present in the books. Their absences may come down to the availability of their actors, or perhaps the writers for Outlander have simply deemed them unnecessary to this version of the story. Regardless of the reason, it would be a shame for the romantasy series to come to an end without these characters getting at least one more appearance.

Historical fantasy series Outlander has charmed viewers for seven seasons and it continues to captivate new audiences with its gripping storyline and compelling characters. With an epic romance and a time travel plot, everything seems possible and every incident seems justifiable. However, as the narrative plays on, many are starting to get bothered by the small inconsistencies.

Despite being a crowd-favorite show, Outlander is still susceptible to criticism, and fans have been airing their frustration over some of the scenes that don’t make sense anymore. While others have found a way to validate these remarks, it does not erase the fact that the show seems to cling to one tired television trope that could be pictured as lazy writing.

Ahead of season 7 part 2’s premiere, it was revealed that several major characters from the past seasons were set to return in Outlander, including Jenny Murray, who was last seen in season 3. Part of the reason behind the Lallybroch matriarch’s prolonged absence was Laura Donnelly’s commitment to other projects, including HBO’s The Nevers and multiple Broadway shows.

The final episodes of Outlander’s seventh season finally returned to Starz in November, and fans couldn’t be more excited. When viewers last saw Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitríona Balfe) in the midseason finale, the pair were on their way back to Scotland with Young Ian (John Bell) after more than a decade away. During the show’s third season, Ian was captured by pirates, prompting Claire and Jamie to go after him, which eventually took them all to Jamaica. After reuniting and attempting to return home, the trio were caught in a hurricane and washed ashore in America, where they ultimately decided to stay. Needless to say, it’s been a long time since they were all in Scotland, which means quite a bit has changed, including one major actress.

Starz’s Outlander season seven episode 10, which rips your heart out in its final 10 minutes, begins with a touching flashback of Jamie and Ian’s childhood in 1729. As they practice fighting, they’re reminded they’ll never lose if they fight as brothers. Ian’s dad, John (Adam McNamara), tells Ian that he must stand on Jamie’s left to protect his chief’s weaker side and never leave it.
The scene switches to Ian (Steven Cree) laughing about Claire being 207 years older than Jamie (Sam Heughan). Ian’s getting a real kick out of this turn of events, and it’s wonderful to see the friends enjoying what time they have left together. Ian describes his illness as feeling like a knife in his chest, and the slowness of it is driving him crazy. He has a...

The second half of the seventh season of Outlander is off and running, and surprises abound. While Jamie and Claire Fraser (Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe) return to Jamie's native Scotland, their son-in-law Roger (Richard Rankin) has a time-traveling kidnapping to solve: his son Jemmy (Blake Johnston-Miller) has been taken into the past, so Roger and ancestor Buck (Diarmaid Murtagh) use the standing stones at Craigh Na Dun to travel back in time in pursuit...but they somehow overshoot their mark, ending up about 20 years earlier than they planned. Jamie's father Brian Fraser (Andrew Whipp) is still running Lallybroch, with a younger version of Jamie's sister Jenny (Kristin Atherton) helping keep the household.
“I think it’s just shock after shock after shock, and I think all of these things helped to develop a very sort of interesting and refreshing plot line for Buck and Roger,” Rankin told TV Insider.

True to its nature, Outlander returned with its Season 7 mid-season premiere, and there wasn't a shortage of exciting time-traveling twists to get into. Chief and perhaps, most significant among them was Roger (Richard Rankin) and Buck (Diarmaid Murtagh) being displaced in time to a period they were not expecting to arrive in. Having traveled through the standing stones at Craigh Na Dun to find Rogers son Jemmy (Blake Johnston-Miller), who was kidnapped by Rob Cameron (Chris Fulton). Roger and Buck find themselves in a time period where Jamie's father, Brian Fraser (Andrew Whipp), is still Laird at Lallybroch, with a younger Jenny (Kristin Atherton) helping run the household.

Outlander season 7, episode 9 has finally brought Jenny Murray back to the screen, though she looks a little different these days. Jamie's older sister and the matriarch of Lallybroch hasn't been seen in the fantasy series since way back in season 3. Up to that point, she had been portrayed by Laura Donnelly, but since Claire and Jamie's adventures took them far away from Scotland, there wasn't much opportunity for Jenny to return. However, Outlander season 7, episode 9, included a heartwarming reunion, but this time without Donnelly.
In Outlander season 7, episode 9, Jamie, Claire, and Young Ian finally make it back to Lallybroth in Scotland, something they have been trying to do for several seasons. They are immediately greeted by Jenny, who is eager to see her youngest son again after he was kidnapped and taken to the Americas back in Outlander season 3. Warning: Spoilers for Outlander season 7, episode 9 "Unfinished Business"!Outlander returned to Starz tonight with season 7, episode 9, which celebrated Claire (Caitrona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) arriving in Scotland while also imparting some sad news for their family. The appropriately titled "Unfinished Business" did some much-needed table setting prior to the show's conclusion in season 8, allowing the Frasers to reconnect with Jamie's sister Jenny and her husband Ian Murray. While Ian is still played by Steven Cree, the role of Jenny is now played by Kristin Atherton.
Outlander season 7, part 2 also gave Young Ian (John Bell) the chance to reunite with his parents after seasons away, but his homecoming was particularly bittersweet. The episode revealed that his father is suffering from consumption and in the last stages of the illness, and Claire unfortunately confirmed that no medical miracle could save him time travel or not.

Fellow Outlander fans, we are back, Finally! It has been a literal eternity (or since August 2023) since we have been in the world of the Frasers, but I am so happy to be back!
The premiere episode of Season 7B had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish, and certainly threw me for a loop at many points. There is simply so much to discuss and unravel, and I can't wait to dive right into it.

Outlander returns in just a couple days for the second half of its seventh season, over a year after part 1 wrapped up. You might look at that long wait and conclude that this is effectively season 8, but they're calling it season 7, part 2, so let's just run with it.

Outlander season 7 part 2, aka the final eight episodes of the season, are finally making their way to us on Friday, Nov. 22, 2024 on Starz. There's still a ways to go, but that does mean that the closer we get to the premiere, the more teases start to come out about the next chapter of the epic time-travel drama.
In a recent interview with TVLine, executive producer Matthew B. Roberts shared a hint at what's to come for the Frasers - both the ones in the 18th century and the ones in the 1970s - including how it feels to be back home in Scotland for Jamie, Claire, and Young Ian.
All three haven't been there since the third season. And it's crazy just how long they've been away! Of course we're looking forward to the trio interacting once again with Jenny and Ian Murray, Jamie's sister and brother-in-law and Young Ian's parents.

More Fraser Reunions & One Deceased Character's Return Revealed In Outlander Season 7, Part 2 Images

New images from Outlander season 7, part 2 tease a Fraser reunion as well as the return of a previously deceased character. First premiering on Starz in 2014, this historical drama, which adapts Diana Gabaldons Outlander novel series, centers on Jamie Fraser, a highland warrior, and Claire Randall, a former World War II military nurse who Jamie falls in love with and eventually marries. Each season of this historical drama has adapted one of Gabaldons novels, following Jamie and Claires love story, and the forthcoming Outlander season 7, part 2 is set to continue their story.
Now, ahead of the release of part 2, a new batch of photos has been released by TV Insider, and they tease a couple of unexpected returns in the coming episodes. The photos feature Dougal MacKenzie and time-traveling love Geillis, both of whom were previously killed in the series. The images also tease the return of Laoghaire, Jamies second wife and Claires nemesis.

For fans of the Starz hit series “Outlander,” the time spent waiting between seasons can feel like an eternity. The sixth season concluded just over a year ago, and in that time the cast and crew have been hard at work to bring out another season of the show. We also received the bittersweet announcement at the end of March that the show’s eighth season would be its last.
Season 6 left us with a monster of a cliffhanger, with Claire (Caitriona Balfe) getting arrested and sent to prison for murder and Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Ian (John Bell) setting off on a mission to get her back. Never a dull moment for the Frasers. Thankfully, the wait is almost over. Season 7 premieres on Starz on June 16. If you at all care about Outlander‘s Jamie and/or Claire Fraser, we strongly recommend watching until the very end of the show’s new Season 7 trailer.
The nearly two-and-a-half-minute video, which Starz released Thursday, offers up plenty of weighty moments for us to fret over ahead of the season premiere. A mournful Claire sings “Ave Maria” while walking in a funeral procession. She cries while asking Jamie, “We will make it back here one day, won’t we?” Their house on Fraser’s Ridge very much seems like it’s on fire. Lord John wonders why Jamie won’t fight for England,...

“Outlander” is giving fans a little more time before they have to say goodbye — and giving subscribers more of a reason to sign up for a full year instead of just a few months. Season 7 of the time-travel romance will air in two parts, Starz said on Wednesday, with the first half airing this year and the second half waiting for 2024.
Season 7, as previously announced, consists of 16 episodes, the show’s highest order count since Season 1. Like Season 1, which aired in 2014 and 2015, Season 7 will be split into two eight-episode bunches — the “Droughtlander” is officially over on June 16. “Outlander” has already been renewed for a final Season 8, which will consist of 10 episodes and presumably air in 2025 or later.
It is currently unclear if the show, based on Diana Gabaldon’s series of historical-fantasy romance novels, will completely adapt the entire saga. Each season of “Outlander” thus far has adapted (roughly) one...

Put on your kilts and break out the bagpipes in mourning: “Outlander” is coming to an end. The hit Starz TV series has been renewed for an eighth and final season, the premium cable channel announced Thursday. The news comes ahead of Season 7 of the series, which will premiere in Summer 2023.
The news makes it unclear if the show, which is based Diana Gabaldon’s series of historical fantasy romance novels, will adapt the most recent installment, 2021’s “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone.” Each season of “Outlander” has thus far roughly adapted one book in the series, with the upcoming seventh season set to cover 2009’s “An Echo in the Bone” and Season 8 presumably covering 2014’s “Written in My Own Heart’s Blood.” That said, Season 7 is set to have an extended 16-episode run, while Season 8 will consist of 10 episodes, so its possible that longer length can help cover all three books.
