Known for being well connected and delivering the goods earlier than most and on budget, Dawn Robinson has forged the way for over 25 years of successful spark and hustle in advertising and entertainment as an Executive, Talent Agent and Manager and over a decade in television and film as an executive producer, creator and writer.
Dawn recently made her segue from non-scripted programming into original series scripted when she partnered with executive producers Tim Gibbons (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Kathy Landsberg (Looking, Scream) and producer Meghan Hall (Deadliest Catch, Ice Road Truckers). Her current projects have included having packaged, produced and written several scripted series including "Blindfold", "Out of The Blue" and "Under The Red Roof", as well as non-scripted docuseries "Rock Chefs", "Meats Sweets & Treats" and "Master Grower".
An alumnus of CAA and WME and a talent agency founder, her connections to talent in the music business opened doors to producing and writing above the line for several single-camera biopics including Vh1's "Behind the Music", "Rock Star Wives", "That Metal Show", "Do It For The Band", and A&E's "Guns N' Roses: The Story", "Seven Deadly Sins" on E! Channel, and "Mad Genius" on Fuse, as well as the CW's competition series "America's Next Top Model" and reality docuseries "Married To Rock" on E! Channel.
In the corporate world, Dawn was an EVP of Marketing and Advertising in fashion retail companies BCBG, Calvin Klein, Etienne Aigner, Macy's, where she assisted Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson and Christina Aguilera on their rise, and technology and telecommunication corporations IDT and Verizon.
This transitioned into producing Celebrity brand partnerships and placements in media, including a likeness deal with Guitar Hero III - a step that lead to producing music biopics and non-scripted docuseries on television as a device. These included writing and producing music biopic "Beyoncé" on A&E Biography and producing live tour event television special "Lady Gaga Presents Monster Ball" on HBO, which were utilized as media vehicles to establish these artists as influencers and known brands.
As an Executive Producer and Writer on feature film Gunners (Universal Pictures), about world platinum artist Guns N' Roses, she designed a covert viral video tactic through a partnership with a popular digital video network and, within the first month, her "leak" strategy resulted in a massive 3M unique followers with a high 93% conversion and share rate that was monetized on via advertising. She leveraged the results to secure signatures from content providers, Guns N' Roses and related talent, which garnered the support of Geffen Records. Partnering with Executive Producer Gary W. Goldstein and Producer Steve Swartz, she established a deal with Universal Pictures at $10M budget with key players, and assured Apple, Cadbury Schweppes, Coca Cola, Converse, Nike, Frye, Honda, Intel and Versace as sponsors. It was slated with the 2012 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction.
Her talent agency Dark Moon developed music artists such as Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Tool, Type O Negative and Rob Zombie for major labels and agency bosses, and Produced live touring events and appearances internationally in venues with capacities ranging between 500-50,000+. She became known as a huge artist advocate, miracle making something out of nothing in impossible circumstances, and navigating delicate legal issues and contract negotiation.
A graduate of New York University and School of Visual Arts, Dawn's foundation years were below the line at CBS, Blue Sky and HBO, as well as extensive live event and production experience in studios and venues throughout NYC.
She is a strong champion of women's rights and LGBT issues, frequently participates in mentorship programs and panels for the arts and diversity organizations, especially focusing on gender equality and domestic violence, and served on the Board volunteering for non-profit organization Columcille where she organized entertainment events, Women's retreats and workshops.
