Born and raised in the Netherlands, Stefanie Joosten moved to Japan as a student in Japanese studies. She found a modeling agency that hires western models. She is a fan of anime and video games who unknowingly got to audition for the new "Metal Gear", Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (2015) and would be cast as the voice and motion capture of Quiet. In addition, the character is modeled after Joosten's likeness.
