Patrick Sutherland was born and raised in London, Ontario. He attended Humber College's Acting for Film and Television program in Toronto in 2008. He began focusing on cinematography in 2009 and attended Fanshawe College's Advanced Film Making course.
From 2011 onward Patrick shot small music videos and short films, and competed in film competitions such as the Toronto 48 Hr Film Challenge and Vancouver's similar 48 Hour Run n' Gun challenge, as well as Vancouver's Crazy 8s Film Challenge. He was also the primary camera operator for the lifestyle TV show "Vancity Pulse". He worked as a playback assistant on Guillermo Del Toro's Oscar winning film "The Shape of Water".
While shooting small commercial projects on the side, Patrick worked in the lighting department on a number of music videos, feature films and movies of the week from 2017 to 2020.
Patrick shot his first feature film "More than One", in 2016. Directed by Jim Purdy, the film tells the story of a love triangle deciding to make their situation work as a polygamous relationship. The film's rough cut received positive reception in the LGBQT film markets, though today it remains unfinished.
Today Patrick resides in Calgary Alberta pursing interesting projects as a cinematographer
