Netflix has canceled Sex/Life after two seasons. The news isn’t all that surprising as series star Sarah Shahi recently signed on to star in ABC’s legal drama Judgement.
Inspired by B.B. Easton’s 44 Chapters About 4 Men, Sex/Life starred Sarah Shahi as Billie Connelly who, “exhausted from taking care of her two kids and feeling nostalgic for the free-spirited life she lived in New York with her best friend Sasha (Margaret Odette) before marrying loving and reliable Cooper (Mike Vogel), starts journaling and fantasizing about her exploits with an ex (Adam Demos).” While the first season of Sex/Life had 232.70 million hours of viewing time over a nearly four-week period, the second season only had 126.8 million hours in a similar time frame. That’s a drop of about 45%, so you can understand why Netflix canceled Sex/Life.

Netflix‘s Sex/Life has been canceled after delivering its long-awaited second season starring Sarah Shahi, Adam Demos, Margaret Odette, and Mike Vogel. The series focused on a love triangle between Shahi’s Billie, her husband Cooper (Vogel), and her past, all while taking a provocative new look at female identity and desire. After debuting in June of 2021, viewers were eager for the show’s return which didn’t take place until the beginning of March 2023. It seems that the lengthy waiting period didn’t do the show any favors, as it likely contributed to its Season 2 performance. But while viewership is likely a factor in the show’s fate, Shahi recently spoke out about her Season 2 experience and how it differed from the supportive one she had during Season 1. (Credit: Sabrina Lantos/Netflix) Speaking on Amanda Hirsch’s Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast on Tuesday, April 4, Shahi said the production was a “challenge.

Netflix’s “Sex/Life” has been taken off life support. The erotic drama series will not return for a third season at the streamer, a Netflix spokesperson confirmed to IndieWire.

Netflix has canceled its drama series Sex/Life after two seasons.
The decision comes five weeks after the show’s second season (consisting of six episodes, down from eight in season one) debuted — and three weeks after star Sarah Shahi signed on to star in Judgement, a legal drama in contention for next season at ABC.
Season two brought an ending of sorts to the story as Shahi’s Billie reunited with her ex, Brad (Adam Demos), and got married on a beach. Showrunner Stacy Rukeyser, however, told The Hollywood Reporter that she didn’t view the last episode as the end of the series.
“The episode was never intended to be a series finale, that’s for sure,” Rukeyser told THR a week after season two premiered. “I know there are always more stories to tell with these characters in the Sex/Life universe, and I hope we get the chance to tell those stories.

Netflix has officially canceled Sex/Life after two seasons.
The decision to end the Sarah Shahi drama comes a month after the premiere of Sex/Life Season 2.
The cancellation is not surprising.
Shahi is set to headline the ABC pilot Judgement and the star went public this week about her challenging time with the material on the second season.
"I'm not going to put it down, but I definitely did not have the support that I did the first season from the people involved in the show," Shahi shared of her experience this week on Dear Media's Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast.
"It became a much different thing for me, and I'm not afraid to say that."
"I struggled with the material. I just felt the thing that it had the first season — I mean, I'm never gonna work for Netflix again now after saying all this,...

Having made its debut in March, the second installment of the steamy drama continues to follow the character of Billie Connelly (Shahi), her best friend Sasha Snow (Margaret Odette), and her tumultuous relationships. Sex/Life star Sarah Shahi is moving back to network TV. The actor will lead the pilot for ABC legal drama Judgement in addition to producing. Judgment comes from Charmed showrunner Joey Falco and 20th Television, per Deadline. The Black Adam star had reportedly been in talks to lead the pilot since January, with the network and producers having to work through Shahi’s Sex/Life commitment. The Netflix drama has not yet been renewed for Season 3 (Season 2 debuted its six-episode arc on March 2). Shahi will reportedly be able to stay with the series if it is renewed, but she will have to work around her Judgement commitments. Sex/Life Season 2’s finale felt much so like a series ender. Every loose end was tied up, with the leads all getting their happy endings, making for a markedly different end from its first season. But Shahi and co-stars Adam Demos and...

As the first season of Netflix’s Sex/Life wrapped up, our heroine Billie (Sarah Shahi) found herself in a bit of a pickle. On the one hand, she had Cooper (Mike Vogel), her drop-dead gorgeous, chiseled husband, a great father to her two small children with a lucrative job that was helping save the world. But the sex? Meh. On the other hand, she had Brad (Adam Demos), her drop-dead gorgeous, chiseled past love, a mega-rich music producer unfortunately burdened with abandonment issues that made him a bit of a douchebag.

Sex/Life is a Netflix series based on the book by Bb Easton. It stars Sarah Shahi, Mike Vogel and Adam Demos.
Sex/Life comes to us with the same pretensions as the first season: to warm up the audience’s mood with these handsome protagonists and their adventures full of desire, dreams and, of course, sex.
About the Series Sex/Life
The story of a woman who, fed up with a boring marriage, sees in her new lover new ways to explore and rediscover herself.
A series created from the production and from the intelligence of its author, Bb Easton, who has known how to read the market and give the public what they want, now in television format and just the day when spring begins.

After a nearly two-year wait, Sex/Life Season 2 is coming to Netflix on Thursday, March 2. Sarah Shahi, Adam Demos, and Margaret Odette star in the six-episode season (with all episodes releasing at once). Ahead of the Sex/Life Season 2 premiere, the stars sat down with TV Insider to discuss fans’ big questions about the steamy series. For starters, what caused the delay? The Covid-19 pandemic, of course, adds more layers to planning a filming schedule. But the actors don’t mention any Covid-related issues. As Demos (Brad) shares, “That’s above my pay grade, that’s for sure.” Shahi, the show’s leading lady, says a lot of concerted time went into the season’s story development. “I’m not sure what caused the delay,” says Shahi, who plays Billie. “I do know that in terms of how to settle on the storytelling for Season 2, that was something that a lot of...

Something like 67 million households streamed season one of Netflix's steamy hit "Sex/Life" after it dropped last year - and apparently, a handful of them have children at star Sarah Shahi's kids' school.
"My kids' elementary school, I became notorious over there," Shahi jokes to Popsugar during a recent interview. "And I had to disguise myself for a bit because I became the poster child for unhappily married women. And so there was a lineup. I was like Dr. Ruth at 7-year-olds's birthday parties, just giving out love and relationship advice."
Shahi, who shares three kids with her ex Steve Howey - son William, 13, and twins Violet and Knox, 8 - is still "grateful," though, for every "beautiful" encounter she has with a fan who connected with Billie - even when they don't initially recognize her at first.

The love triangle is expanding in the newly released trailer for season two of Netflix’s steamy series Sex/Life.
The show, created by Stacy Rukeyser, follows suburban mom Billie Connelly (Sarah Shahi) as she initially gets caught up in a love triangle between her reliable husband Cooper (Mike Vogel) and her ex-boyfriend Brad Simon (Adam Demos). As she starts to reminisce about her wild and youthful days in New York City with Brad, she journals the passionate moments. But as she continues to take a trip down memory lane, she finds herself questioning how she got to where she is — a stay-at-home wife and mother in Connecticut.
The trailer for the second season, released Monday, begins with Billie saying, “One of the most important decisions you’ll ever make is who to spend your life with.” And that’s a decision she is clearly still trying to figure out.

One of the most surprising hits of 2021 on Netflix is returning next month.
The official trailer for Sex/Life Season 2 is here, and it looks like Billie will have a new love interest in mind.
The trailer also seemingly confirms that it's all over between Billie and Cooper.
"I'm not [upset], I'm just done," Cooper says.
Things aren't much better with Brad, either.
"I came to you six months ago with a ring," he tells her, adding the following:
"You said no, and now it's too late."
As for the new man in Billie's life, Majid (played by Darius Homayoun), he looks like a lot of fun.
The first season featured plenty of steamy twists that got the fans talking -- and streaming.
Will the show be able to live up to its moniker again for the second time?
We'll need to tune in when the series returns, but if the trailer is any indication,...

Viewers want more Sex/Life, and Season 2 is on the way over at Netflix, but it’s been almost two years since the series debuted. There have been little to no updates in the interim, but it’s safe to assume that Sex/Life Season 2 will be coming out in 2023. Season 1 of the erotic drama tracked Billie Connelly (Sarah Shahi) and the love triangle between her, her husband, and her past. Based on Bb Easton’s novel 44 Chapters About 4 Men, Sex/Life takes a provocative look at female identity and desire. Before stay-at-home mom Billie married the loving and reliable Cooper (Mike Vogel) and moved to Connecticut, she was a free-spirited wild child living in New York City with her best friend, Sasha (Margaret Odette). She worked hard and played even harder. Exhausted from caring for her two young kids and feeling nostalgic for her wild past, Billie starts journaling and fantasizing about...

But the more Billie remembers, the more she wonders how she ended up in her quiet suburban life, questioning everything about it. And then her husband finds her journal.

“Sex/Life,” Netflix’s new series about marital dissatisfaction and monogamy, sets out to ask several big questions. By the end, it’s only proved one thing to the viewer’s satisfaction: That it takes hard work to pull off satisfying trash.
Inspired by the book “44 Chapters About 4 Men” by Bb Easton and created by Stacy Rukeyser, “Sex/Life” is at least at first organized around the diary kept by Billie Connelly (Sarah Shahi). Billie, a suburban wife and mom with an academic background in psychology, is happy enough with her life and with her husband (Mike Vogel). But she can’t help turning over in her mind experiences with a former lover (Adam Demos), a fixture from her past who intrudes upon her present; she writes all about him in her diary. When her husband finds those writings, Billie embarks upon a journey of self-rediscovery that threatens the stability of her life and family.

For subtlety’s sake, it’s better if coming-of-age stories don’t feature subplots in which characters are asked to pen their own autobiographical tales of maturation, and then spend time debating the merits of J.D. Salinger’s “The Catcher in the Rye” as well as their personal similarities to its protagonist, Holden Caulfield. That “Boogie” does this is emblematic of its frequent clunkiness. Nonetheless, Eddie Huang’s directorial debut about a Chinese American basketball player trying to balance athletics, romance and parental expectations — elements that should give it a leg up on the competition when it debuts in theaters on March 5.

Exclusive: Sex/Life is resuming after production on the Netflix dramedy got back up and running in Toronto. Deadline understands filming kicked off Monday on the eight-part series, which comes from UnReal’s Stacy Rukeyser, just outside of the Canadian city at Dixie Studios.
