Britain's Got Talent returns for its eighth series this weekend with the usual band of oddballs and aspiring stars trying out for the formidable judging panel.

Things didn't get off to the best of starts with this act. Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon want Joseph Hall to be in the 'Britain's Got Talent' final. The feisty judges have hinted the suave dancer is likely to be their wildcard pick to join the 10 remaining acts in Saturday's live finale (08.06.13). Amanda teased, ''There was an act who we thought was amazing'', with Alesha admitting, ''It was Joseph''. The Nottingham-born dancer is also a firm favourite with the public, and has been tipped by bookies Ladbrokes to land the coveted extra spot in this year's finale, just ahead of Youth Creation and Alice Fredenham. The two judges - who along with Simon Cowell...

David Walliams has waded in on the debate surrounding children appearing on TV talent shows.
Bruce Forsyth and Simon Cowell have recently clashed over young people appearing on Britain's Got Talent, with Forsyth stating that it could be "disastrous" for children in the long run.
Walliams has taken to Twitter to give his thoughts on the debate, stating that he would have auditioned at the age of 14 if he was as good as comedian Jack Carroll.
"As for kids taking part on #Bgt if I'd had the talent of @fatjacko at 14 (or even now) I would have desperately wanted to be on the show.
"#Bgt is a huge opportunity to launch a a career, win a huge amount of money and perform before the Queen (Elizabeth not @SimonCowell)."
He added that the only contestant to be emotional on the semi-finals so far is adult singer Alice Fredenham.

Britain's Got Talent contestants Jack Carroll and Gabz have said that they are happy to reach the final over early favourite Alice Fredenham.
The child stars both competed against Fredenham in last night's (May 28) semi-final, and were able to impress the public and the judges while her nerves surprisingly cost her a place in the Top 3 of the public vote.
Speaking to Digital Spy, the pair said that their success felt "ace" and "a bit good" as they consider Fredenham to be "a proper act" by comparison.
Asked about his jibe at Sir Bruce Forsyth, who has repeatedly criticised the "ordeal" of young contestants in Bgt, during his comedy routine yesterday, 14-year-old Carroll said: "He'll take it all in good humour, hopefully. I really, really like Bruce, and... if that's his stance then fair enough."
Meanwhile, Gabz said that she'd "love" to release her track 'The One' as a single,...

In the words of Simon Cowell, Britain's Got Talent's second semi-final saw "the kids take over the show".
Amid the ongoing debate over whether youngsters should be exposed to the glare of the ITV talent show, it was teenagers Jack Carroll and Gabz who progressed to the final, with child singing duo Jack & Cormac also finishing in the top three.
Alice Fredenham, Meat Diva and MckNasty also impressed, while there were energetic performances from dancers MD and Martin & Marielle and a change of pace from Modupe Obasola.

If you missed last night's first Britain's Got Talent semi-final, you missed a man dancing with a mop, Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden competing to flash the most cleavage and a splattering of underwhelming dancers and singers.
However, fear not, because we have high hopes that semi-final number two will erase all our memories of yesterday's horror show. Young comic Jack Carroll, Voice singer Alice Fredenham and likeable musicians Gabz and Modupe are all on the bill.
And for anyone who watches for the laughs rather than the talent, keep your eyes peeled for the so-bad-they-just-might-be-great Meat Diva. We have high hopes for the Cher/Meat Loaf/Freddie Mercury/Tina Turner impersonators.

Alesha Dixon reportedly asked David Walliams to help her axe child acts from Britain's Got Talent.
The former Strictly Come Dancing judge struggled to tell young acts they had not made the live shows, according to The Sun.
Dixon allegedly found the task "too upsetting", including giving the bad news to 5-year-old dancer Jordan Nash.
An insider said: "She finds it really upsetting, and she refused to do it this year. So David had to step in and break the news to her share of contestants. It wasn't really fair, because it is the hardest part of the entire audition process.
"It can be hard to let adults down, let alone children. Because kids take the rejection much harder it can be heartbreaking to see. Alesha definitely had an easy ride compared to the other judges."
Dixon was seen giving only one rejection on Sunday's programme, to a group of adult hopefuls.

Britain's Got Talent will feature a wildcard entrant in the final again this year.
The news was confirmed on spin-off show Britain's Got More Talent following the first live semi-final of the series.
It has not yet been announced whether the judges will have responsibility for selecting this year's wildcard as was the case last year, or whether there will be a public vote.
However, it has been confirmed that the wildcard will be chosen from this year's third-placed semi-finalists - those who just missed out on a place in the final.
Judges Simon Cowell, David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden chose to give boyband The Mend a second chance at the grand prize during the 2012 series.

The singer caused controversy with her appearances on both Britain's Got Talent and The Voice UK, but Simon Cowell still described her voice as "liquid gold".

Britain's Got Talent's Alice Fredenham has hit out at The Voice UK for making her appear "fake".
The singer said that she was upset when her blind audition aired as it made her feel like a "pawn" between the two rival shows, The Sun reports.
Fredenham was first seen by viewers auditioning for Britain's Got Talent and explaining to judges about her crippling stage fright.
Her audition for The Voice UK, filmed beforehand, was later aired on the BBC show and Fredenham appeared confident.
She revealed: "I was upset when The Voice showed my blind audition because I did feel a bit like a pawn between two shows.
"I can see why people might think my nerves on Britain's Got Talent were tactical and if I was watching as a viewer I might think that too.

The Britain's Got Talent auditions are always a mixed bag when it comes to entertainment. There's only so much that the horsing around of David Walliams and Simon Cowell can do to mask the mediocre talent and predictable sob stories.
However, when it comes to the live semi-finals, the show morphs into an entirely different and much more enjoyable beast. Tears, bust-ups, disastrous novelty acts who don't seem quite so funny second time around and Walliams prancing around Cowell like Frankie Howard on speed.
Unlike The X Factor it is nigh on impossible to predict the results on Britain's Got Talent. Susan Boyle and Ronan Parke looked like dead certs to be singing for the Queen, but came up short in their finals.

It was a case of reality TV eating itself, spitting itself out and then eating itself again. Alice Fredenham has appeared on both Britain's Got Talent and The Voice over the past two weeks, increasing tensions further in the ongoing Simon Cowell/BBC talent show battle.
On Britain's Got Talent, Fredenham was a star act. She brought Amanda Holden to tears. Standard. Simon Cowell described her voice as sounding like "liquid gold". I think that means he believes he can make money out of her. And David Walliams took a moment out of playing Carry On Camping with Cowell to get all serious and labelled Alice "a goddess".

Britain's Got Talent came back last week with a massive bang and incredible ratings that are just unheard of nowadays. I actually whispered to Simon Cowell in a pre-show screening, 'This is going to be the best year yet' and he went, 'Agreed'. I'm so excited.
That opening episode is just everything I love about the show. It's very apparent to the audience how all of us, the judges and hosts, are like a family and just get on and have a good time. Then on the talent side of things, the standard was just superb.
The Hungarian shadow dancers Attraction were brilliant. On the day I think the auditorium was just silent, and anyone who didn't get goosebumps surely has to have a heart of steel. Britain's Got Talent star Alice Fredenham will feature in this Saturday's episode of The Voice UK.
The 28-year-old beauty therapist from Hertfordshire was seen impressing the Bgt judges on last week's show with her performance of 'My Funny Valentine', but previously failed to make it through the blind auditions on the show's BBC rival.
Fredenham recently told Digital Spy that she found her Voice UK rejection "quite disheartening".
"I was unsuccessful - the chairs didn't turn," she explained. "But I was encouraged not to let it crush me, so I went forward and auditioned for Britain's Got Talent."
The Voice UK continues this Saturday (April 20) at the later time of 8.20pm on BBC One.
