Mini Bio (1)
Damien Wake, graphic designer, photographer and director invites you to discover his universe both oniric and realistic. Autodidact, he launches himself into graphic design by making CD covers for music bands. He then discovers a real mode of expression : his activity becomes an inextinguishable passion. He creates his own universe designing graphic projects in which he puts in scene lonely persons confronted to frightening worlds, reflection of his personal existential questions. Singled out by his work, he is therefore contacted by several publishers and takes part in large-scale projects. His work has been repeatedly cited in various reviews. To give birth more concretely to his universe, he takes up photography. Collaborating with many models, he introduces the basis of his creative process : faded characters melting into their environment. Their look, never directed towards the lens, goes to imaginary, with the constant will to give others desire to follow these characters and wonder about what happens beyond the limits imposed by images.
Willing to elaborate new projects, he moves to Los Angeles. There, he photograph his encounters, isolates them on the film, inviting the observer to an introspective journey overwhelmed by the sensibility of the protagonists. Back in France, he gathers all his snapshots and publishes his first book of photography entitled ' Los Angeles Broken Souls '.Led by his interest for American ethnic diversity, he considers the opportunity of directing a short film on this topic, and works on his first novel ' Forty Niner ' coming out in 2013.
Damien splits his time between France and USA. His artistic vision can be seen on his website
