Maria Giménez Cavallo was born in New York to an Italian-American mother and Spanish father. She studied Film, French, and Italian at Columbia University, where she wrote her thesis on post-humanism in Michelangelo Frammartino's "Le quattro volte". After graduation, she moved to Paris to work with Abdellatif Kechiche as artistic collaborator, assistant director, casting director, and editor for the trilogy "Mektoub, My Love: Canto Uno." Maria has since collaborated closely with Pietro Marcello, as well as with Alice Rohrwacher, Hafsia Herzi, and Luca Guadagnino, both on set and in the editing room. She has also made several short films which depict the poetry of nature, blurring the lines between humans and the natural world.
