Lily Howkins is a London based actor and writer-director. As a recipient of the BFI's Early Development Fund she is developing her first feature film, and has two further short films in development. She was nominated for the 2023 Film London Lodestar Awards and has been supported by the Gane Trust in her writing and directing work.
Her directorial debut, 'The Eyes of Marge' is currently on the festival circuit, winning two awards at BIFA Qualifying Unrestricted View Film Festival, having been nominated for six in total including Best Director. The film has also screened at BIFA Qualifying Brighton Rocks, Kingston International Film Festival, Landshut, PanicFest and Soho LIFF.
Her short film 'A.R.P.U.' won the Grand Jury Prize at Berlin Sci-Fi Film Festival and was nominated for Best Short Film at Boston Sci-Fi Film Festival. It was nominated and won awards at several other international and national film festivals.
She particularly enjoys creating work within the horror, sci-fi and dystopian genres (with a bit of black comedy thrown in for good measure) and exploring stories with a female narrative at their core; exploring how often these have been, and still are, warped or twisted by other voices.
