"Can we push back this deadline that you've set?" Dark Sky Films has revealed an official trailer for indie thriller Lifeline, from director Feras Alfuqaha. Yet another hotline thriller focusing on a person answering a phone - this night he receives an odd, paranormal call. There have been a few of these recently - including The Guilty with Jake Gyllenhaal or Tessa Thompson's The Listener. In Lifeline, a suicide hotline operator gets a late-night call from someone who claims to be him, knowing private details only he would know, and threatening to end his life in an hour. The operator must race against time to stop "himself" from suicide. Josh Stewart stars as Steven Thomas, along with August Maturo, Charlene Amoia, Jocelyn Ayanna, Nicole Santiago, Jill Awbrey, & Brecken Merrill. The hit series 9-1-1: Lone Star is preparing to end its run, but it appears that another 9-1-1 spinoff series will take its place. It's being reported that a new 9-1-1 spinoff is in the works with its planned location revealed.

Per Deadline, a second 9-1-1 spinoff series is in development at ABC from Ryan Murphy and Tim Minear. According to the report, Hawaii has emerged as the likely setting for the planned new show. Previously, it was reported that Las Vegas was becoming a contender for the spinoff, but the focus is now said to be largely on the Aloha State. As of now, however, the project hasn't been officially greenlit, and ABC has not offered an official comment on the news.

Boy Meets World star Danielle Fishel discusses the one key story moment she would have changed in the original TV series.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Fishel opened up about the subject during a recent episode of the rewatch podcast, Pod Meets World. "I don't think I would have Cory [Savage] and Topanga [Fishel] get married," Fishel stated. "I think I might have her still do the proposal and maybe he still says yes, [and] we go through the whole planning. Then, we end up deciding it's maybe not the right choice for us now."

It seems Ben Savage has found his real life Topanga. On Jan. 11, the "Boy Meets World" actor subtly announced his engagement to girlfriend Tessa Angermeier in a post on Instagram. In the photo, the happy couple are standing in front of a lake in Owensville, In, with Angermeier resting her hand on Savage's chest - and showing off her engagement ring in the process.

Savage captioned the photo, "The best is yet to come." A rep for Savage confirmed to Popsugar that the 42-year-old is engaged. "They are both very grateful and enjoying this exciting time with their families and friends," the actor's rep said in a statement to People.

Fox is beefing up its upcoming anthology series Accused with a huge injection of talent. With each episode featuring new cast members to work with, the network spared no expense in adding star power this time around with Americans and Justified Emmy winner Margo Martindale headlining a slew of new castings alongside Emmy nominee Molly Parker (Deadwood) and Rachel Bilson (The O.C.). Also boarding the series are Jack Davenport (The Morning Show), J. Harrison Ghee (Kinky Boots), Reid Miller (Joe Bell), August Maturo (Girl Meets World), and Ian Anthony Dale (Hawaii Five-0).

Fox’s crime anthology series Accused is filling out its season one cast with the additions of Rachel Bilson, Margo Martindale, and Molly Parker. Jack Davenport, J. Harrison Ghee, and Ian Anthony Dale have also boarded the drama set for a 2023 premiere.

In addition, Fox announced Kyle Schmid, Blaine Kern, Chris Coy, Kristen Connolly, Willam Belli, Robert I. Mesa, Natalie Benally, Julia Chan, and Takashi Yamaguchi will be featured in season one episodes.

Michael Chiklis, Billy Porter, and Marlee Matlin were previously announced to star in season one. Fox will put a group of celebrities through intense military-style training in a new competition show.

The network has set a January premiere date for Special Forces: The Ultimate Test, which will follow 16 celebs as they take on a series of challenges pulled from the actual special forces selection process under the eye of four former military operatives.

Fox announced the series Wednesday during its time at the Television Critics Association press tour. Lucas (August Maturo) has lost his parents. He’s being looked after by his older brother Tom (Mike Manning), who is ill-equipped at cope and takes out his own stress by bullying him, so he seeks refuge in the woods, where he befriends a monster. Beautifully shot and beautifully played, Slapface captures the magic of a Spielberg film, only to transform into something emotionally devastating. It screened at Frightfest 2021 and is now getting a release on Shudder, which prompted me to discuss it with director Jeremiah Kipp.

I might not have caught Slapface at Frightfest were it not for the urging of Julie Kauffman, whose documentary The Brilliant Terror explores grassroots filmmaking. She had been really impressed by Jeremiah’s work, so I ask him how he felt about that film.

Writer/director Jeremiah Kipp has expanded his short, also titled Slapface, into feature-length; which, as with any short, is a risky undertaking. What works at fifteen or twenty minutes may be drawn out and dull at ninety. Changes to the plot may ruin the mood or message of the original. That’s even more true for something like Slapface which relied heavily on feeling and emotion.

Lucas and Tom lost their parents in a car accident, leaving Tom an unprepared and somewhat unwilling guardian for his younger brother. He would much rather be at the bar with Anna than be at home, or at work for that matter. A simple story reflecting on how easy it is to make mistakes when you’re young – and hinting at the awful consequences of society’s inability to accept that – Luke Benward’s Oscar-qualifying short also addresses the stark social divides in the US and how this can contribute to a skewed understanding of people living in different citrcumstances.

The short film marks a debut for both Benward and Winter, with Benward directing and Winter producing.

Oh-Seung Kwon’s Korean thriller Midnight has won the best feature award at UK genre festival Grimmfest, which ran as a hybrid in-person and online event this year.

The film, which debuted in South Korea in June this year, centres on a deaf mother and daughter who interrupt a serial psychopath as he attempts to claim his next victim, only to finds his wrath redirected toward them instead. Korean sales firm Finecut is handling sales on the title.

“You understand why we have to do this,” says Tom, hitting his little brother in the face.

Tom (Mike Manning) has been legally responsible for Lucas (August Maturo) ever since the death of their parents. Deprived of his family and future in one fell swoop, he works in a manual job, drinks in the local bar and tries to suppress his rage and grief so that he can provide the care the kid needs. Naturally, Lucas is also traumatised and would be a handful even for an experienced adult. He disappears for hours on end, he refuses to listen, he smashes things up and he engages in strange rituals, longing to reconnect with his mother somehow. So Tom, not knowing what else to do, hits him in the face, and Lucas hits back, and each uses an open hand and Tom never uses his full strength, but still, he’s doing damage.

On the surface, from its pure and simple, monster-in-the-woods logline, Slapface might sound like another Blair Witch, Slender Man-esque urban legend chiller waiting to happen. Lots of creeping, twig-snapping tension, mysterious whispers in the forest, and a plethora of halloween mask-lead visuals that you might assume will eventually play out like any other cheap Blumhouse clone. It’s a solemn surprise then that the reality is anything but.

Slapface, after all, isn’t the monster, but a highly sinister game, played by two recently-orphaned brothers, struggling to make ends-meet, now on their own in a secluded house on the margins of society. The older Tom (Mike Manning), has turned to drinking to feed his grief, while the much younger Lucas (Girl Meets World’s August Maturo), struggles with loneliness, spending his days wandering the woods, trying (and failing) to escape local bullies.

Ryder Allen is set to join Justin Timberlake in the forthcoming drama Palmer directed by Fisher Stevens and written by Cheryl Guerriero, whose script appeared on the 2016 Blacklist.

The film features Timberlake as the titular Eddie Palmer, a former college football phenomenon who, after a stint in prison, returns to his hometown to get his life back on track. There, he faces not only lingering conflicts from his past but also a much more surprising challenge as he finds himself suddenly in charge of a unique, loner 7-year-old boy named Sam (Allen) who has been abandoned by his wayward mother. Palmer marks Allen’s feature film debut.

Academy Award-winning producer Charles B. Wessler (Green Book) will produce alongside Sk Global co-CEOs John Penotti and Charlie Corwin. Sidney Kimmel and Daniel Nadler will also produce. Sk Global and Nadler will co-finance the film.

Written by Larry Miller and Eileen Conn, Love, Weddings & Other Disasters is about the people who work on weddings to create the perfect day for the loving couple – while their own relationships are outlandish, odd, crazy and far, far from perfect.

“The Nun” features a demon nun, two exorcisms, and some zombies, but Demian Bichir had more realistic fears in mind on Tuesday night at the horror film’s premiere in Hollywood.

The Mexican-American actor has been an outspoken advocate for immigration reform, most recently penning an op-ed for Deadline last month about the separation of immigrant families at the border.
