Alexander Hall is a British/American award-winning screenplay/children's book writer and short film writer/director. At the age of twenty, Alexander co-wrote and directed the short film, 'The Magic Bag', while working as a Production Runner at Steven Spielberg's company, Amblin Entertainment, in Hollywood. 'The Magic Bag' won Gold and Film of the Festival at the Festival of Nations, Austria, 1993. Since then, Alexander has worked regularly for top Hollywood companies, including six seasons as a SAG Stand-In on the TV show 'House' at FOX Studios. Additionally, Alexander has completed a 'children's book trilogy' (editing now - March 2024), new spec screenplays, and become a trusted Script Consultant for a top Hollywood Script Development firm.

************************

Born to a British father and an American mother, Alexander Hall was raised in London and Southwest England. He started writing and directing short films as a teenager. William Ellis High School, London, which offered a fully equipped TV studio, played a unique part in Alexander's teenage years. The Media Studies course - writing, directing, video editing - was invaluable in the learning process.

1989, Alexander wrote, co-directed and co-produced 'Brothers In Arms', an ambitious science-fiction short film which was praised by 'Indiana Jones' Producer, Robert Watts. Thanks to Watts, Alexander landed a Production Assistant job at Steven Spielberg's production company, Amblin Entertainment, Hollywood, summer 1991. Alexander was assigned the role of being the Amblin 'in-house' Production Assistant on 'Jurassic Park'.

While at Amblin, Alexander directed, co-wrote and co-produced a new short film, a fairy-tale adventure, 'The Magic Bag', which won Gold and Film of the Festival at Festival of Nations, Austria, 1993. Following Amblin, Alexander began a year-long collaboration with producer Robert Watts, developing and writing several feature film screenplays.

This soon led to Alexander being represented by his first Hollywood literary agent, Phil Lawrence, followed by Erika Wain, the latter guiding him through the remainder of the 1990's, writing new scripts and sharpening his skills pitching projects at Hollywood companies. During this time, Alexander also worked as a freelance photojournalist, selling several articles to 'Elle', 'Marie Claire' and London newspapers, represented by Sophie Reed at Sophie Reed Associates in London.

Adding to his education, in 2000, Alexander attended the Robert McKee Story Structure Course, as well as the Dov Simens 2-Day Film School, both in Hollywood.

2001, to learn the 'Hollywood game' from the inside, Alexander began working as a Manager's Assistant at one of Hollywood's top companies, Talent Entertainment Group (now Entertainment 360) in Beverly Hills. Here, encouraged by Literary Manger, Cheryl Stanley, Alexander wrote nine TV spec scripts in four months.

Following TEG, summer of 2004, Alexander joined SAG Hollywood (Screen Actors Guild), spending six seasons as a SAG Stand-In for actor Robert Sean Leonard on the TV Show 'House' at FOX Studios, L.A., also starring Hugh Laurie.

While on 'House', Alexander absorbed all the elements of TV production, while writing 'Alien Drug Wars: The Tunnel', an action/science-fiction screenplay, which came 2nd in the 'Action' category of Fade In Magazine's 12th Annual Screenplay Contest, Hollywood.

After 'House', Alexander wrote and published a children's book, 'Bouncy the Tennis Ball', as well as completing an epic children's fantasy/adventure novel trilogy, which he is editing now. Both projects are intended movie franchises.

For the past two-and-a-half years, Alexander has added to his skills as a 'Script Consultant' for the Hollywood Script Development firm, Industrial Scripts, providing detailed Coverage Reports and rewrite work. For three years running, Alexander has also read and scored scripts for the prestigious screenplay contest, The Titan Awards.

Presently, Alexander is writing new screenplays in the UK but returning to the USA soon...
