Former Disney Executive John Lasseter is Talking Meetings in Hollywood, Looking For Work, and Interested in Podcasting

After Disney and Pixar animation head John Lasseter was accused by several employees of inappropriate sexual misconduct he left to take a six month leave of absence. During that time, Disney made the decision on to let him come back.

Lasseter is said to have had "a reputation for touching women inappropriately in the office, including rubbing their legs and kissing them on the lips. Lasseter was also reprimanded for making out with a subordinate at an Oscar party in 2010."

Disney issued a statement saying that Lasseter will be a consultant for the company until December 31st, 2018 and that time is coming up. Now Lasseter is making the rounds in Hollywood and taking meetings in hopes to land a new gig.

Skydance Developing ‘Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir’ Film, TV Projects
David Ellison’s Skydance Media has partnered with animation studio Zag for live-action film and television projects based on the animated series “Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir.”

Under the deal, Skydance will develop and produce the projects with an anticipated release in 2020. The TV series, developed and produced by Jeremy Zag, follows the heroes Ladybug and Cat Noir — who are transformed from normal teenagers Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste — as they protect Paris from supervillains.

Skydance and Zag made the announcement Wednesday, noting that the TV series airs in more than 120 countries worldwide and regularly scores number 1 rankings in the kids 4-11 demo with over a million global subscribers to YouTube, 17 billion watch-time minutes in its lifetime with both official and user-generated content and “Miraculous” consumer products with 350 licensees worldwide.

Skydance Media, in partnership with Zag, has acquired the live-action feature film and television rights to the global animated phenom Miraculous – Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir.

Under the deal, Skydance plans to develop and produce the first-ever live-action adaptations based on the hit property with an anticipated release in 2020. The critically praised, award-winning animated television series developed and produced by Jeremy Zag follows two heroes—Ladybug and Cat Noir—as they protect the city of Paris from super villains.

Miraculous – Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir follows the adventures of two seemingly typical teens with secret identities, Marinette and Adrien, who magically transform into superheroes, Ladybug and Cat Noir. As secret superheroes Ladybug and Cat Noir are partners in the action. But in the daytime, Marinette is just a normal girl, living a normal life. Haim Saban backs Zag Animation Studios

Haim Saban, Chris Columbus and producer Michael Barnathan have teamed up with Zag Entertainment founder Jeremy Zag to launch Zag Animation Studios.

The partners aim to make globally appealing family franchises comprised of one 3D animated film and one CGI-live-action hybrid film a year, starting in 2017.

Kicking off the initial slate of 10 is the “full CGI” Melody that Columbus will co-direct with Zag.

The line-up includes CGI-live action hybrid Ghostforce and the “full CGI” Abominable.

The Saban group will be responsible for the coordination of all distribution and marketing strategies while Saban Brands will handle worldwide licensing and merchandising for the films.

Zag Animation Studios will operate out of Zag Entertainment’s new, state-of-the-art campus in Glendale, California.

The ‘toon world just got a little bit more crowded. The man who made billions of dollars from the network that brought Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to the United States, and the man who directed or produced three Harry Potter pics have joined with a producer of The Help and a children’s programming entrepreneur to form Zag Animation Studios.

Haim Saban, Chris Columbus, Michael Barnathan and Zag Entertainment’s Jeremy Zag’s new venture plans to produce at least one 3D and one CGI-live action pic a year starting in 2017. With a slate of 10 family films in the pipeline, the first release from Zag will be Melody, co-directed by Columbus and Zag in full CGI.

Ghostforce, a hybrid of live action and CGI, and the full-cgi Abominable are also on the company’s slate for the next few years, taking on projects from industry heavyweights DreamWorks Animation, Disney Animation and Disney’s Pixar unit.
