We'll have to wait until January to find out who truly comes out on top in this epic thriller.

Stallone Exits Expendables 4, What Does This Mean for the Franchise?

Stallone Exits Expendables 4, What Does This Mean for the Franchise?
Sylvester Stallone is now leaving the Expendables franchise he helped create, backing away from starring in Expendables 4, despite what would reportedly be the biggest payday of his career. Sources claim that the actor would take in a whopping $20 million for starring in Expendables 4, which we had reported in December would be the final sequel in this action-packed franchise. Still, producer Avi Lerner revealed that he doesn't think Sylvester Stallone is leaving quite yet, so there may still be hope for the actor's return.

Deadline reports that Sylvester Stallone and producer Avi Lerner, whose Nu Image/Millennium company has produced and financed all of the Expendables movies, can't find common ground on the script or who will take over as the new director. Another point of contention is the use of Avi Lerner's own VFX house, the Bulgaria-based Nu Boyana, with Sylvester Stallone reportedly worried about the "underwhelming" results of this franchise.

Luc Besson’s EuropaCorp remaking Takashi Miike’s Shield of Straw

Luc Besson’s EuropaCorp is partnering up with Chris and Paul Weitz’s Depth of Field and All Nippon Entertainment Works for an English-language remake of Takashi Miike’s thriller Shield of Straw, which is being scripted by Creighton Rotherberger and Katrin Benedikt (Olympus Has Fallen, London Has Fallen).

“We are thrilled at the prospect of bringing the remake of the Japanese thriller Shield of Straw to American audiences and the worldwide market,” said EuropaCorp President Lisa Ellzey (via Variety). “This film is right on brand for EuropaCorp,

Olympus Has Fallen 3 confirmed, Gerard Butler to return

Simon Brew Oct 27, 2016

First there was Olympus Has Fallen. Then? London Has Fallen. Next? Angel Has Fallen...

Gerard Butler just keeps on coming. Notwithstanding the fact that this year’s Olympus Has Fallen sequel, London Has Fallen, fell way short of the original (critically at least - it still did a fair amount of cash at the box office), wheels are in motion on a third film in the series.

Butler is set to return to play Secret Service agent Mike Banning, and this time, the title of the film is Angel Has Fallen. That suggests that the target of the terrorist attacks in the film this time will be the President’s plane, Air Force One (Angel being its codename). And that also suggests that it’s long past time we dug out our Blu-ray of Air Force One. We shall get onto that pronto.

Olympus Has Fallen 3 Gets Titled Angel Has Fallen, Gerard Butler Will Return

Olympus Has Fallen 3 Gets Titled Angel Has Fallen, Gerard Butler Will Return
Gerard Butler has signed on to return as embattled Secret Service Agent Mike Banning in the new Millennium Films sequel Angel Has Fallen, a follow-up to 2013's Olympus Has Fallen and this year's London Has Fallen. The actor will team up with Millennium Films yet again on this action sequel, which doesn't have a director locked in quite yet. Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt, who wrote the first two movies and created the franchise, are returning to write the script.

The original action-thriller followed Gerard Butler's Mike Banning as he saved President Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart) from a terrorist attack at the White House. This year's sequel London Has Fallen took the action across the pond, as a terrorist organization tried to take out several world leaders at once, during the funeral for the late British Prime Minister. Deadline reports that this new tale features Mike Banning himself as the target,

Newswire: Gerard Butler to stab air travel in the brain in Angel Has Fallen

Apparently President Benjamin Asher, Aaron Eckhart’s tough-guy Commander in Chief in the —Has Fallen series of films, thinks term limits are for pussies. Deadline reports that he and his best bro/bodyguard, Secret Service Agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) will return for a third round of stabbing terrorists in the brain in Angel Has Fallen.

But why, out of all the glittering landmarks in the world —the Eiffel Tower in France, the Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas, the Great Pyramids of Giza, that other pyramid in Vegas—did writers Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt pick one that makes this sound like a Christian take on the material? Because that’s the code name for Air Force One, as it turns out, a code name the real Secret Service will probably change now that this movie has been announced.

According to Deadline, whereas in the previous films Banning was tasked

Gerard Butler’s Mike Banning to return for Angel Has Fallen

According to a report from Deadline, Gerard Butler will be reprising his role as Secret Service agent Mike Banning in Angel Has Fallen, the second sequel to the 2013 film Olympus Has Fallen.

In Olympus Has Fallen, the White House was attacked as ex-Secret Service agent Banning was forced to rescue Aaron Eckhart’s President. Its sequel, London Has Fallen, saw the two of them under attack at a summit of world leaders in the British capital.

Angel Has Fallen will take a slight swerve with the formula as Banning himself is the one targeted by terrorists with ‘Angel’ being the codename for Air Force One. It will again be scripted by Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt with a potential early-2017 start date, while a director is yet to been chosen.

Gerard Butler To Reprise Role As Mike Banning For Action Threequel Angel Has Fallen

Mike Banning just can’t catch a break. Three years ago, Gerard Butler’s chiselled secret agent bore witness to a devastating terrorist attack on the White House in Olympus Has Fallen, before shipping across the pond to tackle threats anew in middling sequel London Has Fallen.

The fun doesn’t stop there, however, as Deadline reports that Butler has agreed terms to headline Angel Has Fallen, the third entry into the wildly over-the-top action series. Setting up shop at Millennium Films, the general gist for Angel reveals that Mike Banning’s hunter will become the hunted, as new enemies prepare to wage war on Washington D.C.. That places the Potus in danger once more, though Deadline’s scoop points to Air Force One (codenamed Angel) as a possible focal point.

Gerard Butler Returning To Round Out His Action Trilogy With Angel Has Fallen

I haven't had a chance to see London Has Fallen yet, but I heard it wasn't nearly as good as Olympus Has Fallen, a legitimately enjoyable action thriller that features brutal, over-the-top violence and some truly ridiculous sequences. (I greatly preferred Olympus to that year's other "Die Hard in the White House" movie, White House Down.) But even though it may not be as well-reviewed as the original, London Has Fallen ended up making more money in the long run, and you know what that means: sequel time!

Deadline reports that original writers Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt and actor Gerard Butler are all returning for Angel Has Fallen, a third film in the franchise.

Butler will be back to star as Secret Service agent Mike Banning, who has spent his career keeping American presidents safe. This time, he’s the target. If his attackers can take down half of Washington D.
