Composer, arranger and violist, Rafael studied with Hans Krakenberger, Jesse
Levine (Yale University), Charles Tunnel (English chamber orchestra)
and Osvaldo Ciancio.
He has been a member of the Spanish National Orchestra and was a founding member of the Chamber Orchestra of Granada and Seville Royal Symphony Orchestra. In the 1990's was artistic director and composer of the Camerata New Seville, Hispanico Numen String Quartet and Caponata Argamacho Trio.
He has had numerous compositions, arrangements and recordings for many artists from different musical disciplines: Rafael Riqueni, Lole y Manuel, Terremoto de Jerez, Arcangel, Enrique Morente, Kiko Veneno and toured around the world with the pianist David Peña "Dorantes" (Havana Jazz Festival) and the flamenco dancers Andres Marin, Isabel Bayon and Concha Jareño.
Since 2001 dedicated exclusively to chamber music with Ensemble Hispánico Numen playing in many different international music festivals from different disciplines and also performing in prestigious concert halls.
He has also conducted master classes about Spanish Music at many prestigious educational institutions such as Colburn School of Music. Los Angeles. LA, Opera in the Heights. Houston, USA, University of Music in Melbourne. Australia. Music Edinburgh University. Edinburgh, UK. Music Glasgow University. Glasgow. UK. French School and LaSalle School of Music. Singapore. HKST Sciences University. Hong Kong, China. University of BDC. Israel. PDS International School of Music / Bekaras. Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei.
And in 2010 he made several tours to Africa underdeveloped and 11 Central and South American countries to promote classical music among underprivileged children, serving more than 40,000 of them.
As a composer he has received many commissions and was responsible for rescuing and recovering of the lost "Suite Flamenca" by flamenco pianist Arturo Pavón, which was performed by the Symphony Orchestra of the Principality of Asturias and Symphony Orchestra of Cordoba, has also received commissions from the University of Music in Melbourne and other institutions.
He has 4 own CD records with the Ensemble Hispanico Numen.
