Be it power-packed battles or giant robots, the Gundam by Yoshiyuki Tomino is one of the iconic mecha anime of all time. The anime is popular for its futuristic visuals and depiction of realism. With mecha often reduced to stereotypes, the profound meaning and themes behind it are lost in translation.

Gundam was one of the earliest anime that shaped the mecha genre for future generations. Although the backdrop of the story is fictional, Tomino san based Char on a historical figure namely, Manfred Von Richthofen, also known as The Red Baron.

This time, it definitely is the end. The previous volume finished up reprinting the fifty-year [1] run of Charles M. Schulz’s comic strip Peanuts in twenty-five volumes, two years in each book. (See my posts on nearly all of those books: 1957-1958 , 1959-1960 , 1961-1962 , 1963-1964 , 1965-1966 , 1967-1968, 1969-1970 , 1971-1972 , 1973-1974 , 1975-1976 , 1977-1978 , 1979-1980 , 1981-1982 , 1983-1984 , 1985-1986 , 1987-1988 , 1989-1990 , 1991-1992 , 1993-1994 , the flashback to 1950-1952 , 1995-1996 , 1997-1998 , and finally 1999-2000 .)
Vol. 26 does something slightly different: it collects related works. It has comic book pages and advertising art and gift-sized books (some of which could be called “graphic novels,” with only a tiny bit of squinting) and similar things — all featuring the Peanuts characters, all written and drawn by Schulz. Obviously, this was culled from a far larger mass of related Peanuts stuff — dozens of hours of TV specials, to begin with, plus major ad campaigns for many products over most of those fifty years,...

Retro gaming is huge right now. Huge. And it’s only getting bigger… From the like of fan favourites multiplatform consoles like Retron 5 and fab handhelds like the Supaboy S; to the Nes Mini/Classic, an official re-release of Nintendo’s classic console – which only brought retro gaming further into the mainstream (as the constant sold out status will atest), it seems if games are retro, they’re hot property. Which is where At Games’ Atari Flashback Classics come in.
At Games have taken their retro console the Atari Flashback, now in it’s seventh incarnation, and moved the experience to current-gen consoles; and their success depends entirely on your enjoyment of the old-school – and in the case of 2600 games, basic – games of yesteryear… Entirely…

Whenever a collection of classic games is released, I always find myself picking it up. Despite not usually having nostalgia for these retro packages (as my first console was the Genesis), I love learning more about the medium that I love, and it’s typically a good way to experience games that I missed out on. Typically this experience is hit-or-miss as for every one game I end up loving, there are usually a handful of titles that are only interesting to look at through a historical lens.
The latest retro video game collection comes in the form of Atari Flashback Classics Volume 2. This $20 package features 50 games in total, with 9 being arcade games, and 41 Atari 2600-era titles. Since the games are the main reason why anyone would pick this up, and there are way too many of them to touch on individually, here’s the full list of arcade titles: Asteroids,...

Battlefield 1 is primed to descend on E3 in a major way.
Given the Wwi shooter is being aligned as Dice’s tentpole fall release, that’s hardly surprising, but nevertheless the studio has announced plans to host a livestream of the game on June 12, with the emphasis being on Battlefield 1‘s 64-player multiplayer.
Due to begin at 2pm Pt (5pm Et/10pm UK/9pm GMT), Battlefield Squads will welcome a handful of well-known online personalities, including YouTube and Twitch streamers such as Battlefield Friends’ “Noob” and StoneMountain64. There’s also plans for special guests to appear at the show, too, and you can find out more information about the event – including a chance to win tickets to attend in Los Angeles – here.

Much like Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare before it, the official reveal event of 2016’s Battlefield has been undercut by so many leaks that there’s only so much more EA and Dice can unveil. Nevertheless, building upon an extensive presentation of the franchise’s history, both parties finally brought the curtain down on this year’s entry into the juggernaut Fps franchise – Battlefield 1.
Rolling back the years to situate the series in World War I – a realistic version of The Great War, that is, as apposed to an alternate history as earlier reports has suggested – the sizzle reel above offers up a rapid fire of some key elements from the game, including trench warfare, tanks, mustard gas, flamethrowers, battleships and booming artillery.

Colourful 3D animation brightens up the beloved creations of Charles Schulz, but the humour and observations remain the same
This return to the cinema for the stars of Charles M Schulz’s beloved comic strip has heritage credibility; it is co-written by Craig and Bryan Schulz (with Cornelius Uliano), respectively son and grandson of Charles, and uses archive recordings of Bill Melendez (the one person Schulz entrusted to bring his creations to the screen) to lend voice to Snoopy and Woodstock.

I had the opportunity to speak with director Steve Martino about a film that is out in theaters, The Peanuts Movie, the first feature-length outing for Charles Schulz’s iconic characters. In 2008, Martino was one of the duo who directed Blue Sky Studios’ Horton Hears A Who!, a theatrical CGI adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ picture book. And in 2012 he also co-directed Ice Age: Continental Drift.
Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus and the rest of the beloved "Peanuts" gang make their big-screen debut, like they've never been seen before, in state of the art 3D animation. Charlie Brown, the world's most beloved underdog, embarks upon an epic and heroic quest, while his best pal, the lovable beagle Snoopy, takes to the skies to pursue his arch-nemesis, the Red Baron.
Here is what Martino had to say about the film. And below is our exclusive image from the film.

When any beloved property is adapted in a new medium for the big screen there is bound to be a slew of anxiety that comes along with it. The odds of someone taking something you know by heart and love on a soul-deep level and disrespecting it in the name of commerce are stacked astronomically against you. That goes double for a film based on a comic involving children as characters and an appealingly dark existential streak. With children as characters, the film will invariably be geared towards children, and so one would be forgiven for believing that the soul of the story would be altered to appeal to them as well.
So it is was a huge relief to find that The Peanuts Movie manages to maintain the soul of the comic strip even as it upgrades the visuals.

Chicago – They didn’t screw it up, and that is good. Eschewing modern conventions or typical animation pop culture jokes, “The Peanuts Movie” honors its source (Charlie Brown and the gang) and its creator, Charles M. Schultz, in a joyous and nostalgic celebration.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
The filmmakers – director Steve Martino (“Horton Hears a Who”) and writers Craig Schultz (Charles’s son), Bryan Schultz (grandson) and Cornelius Uliano – kept a philosophy of “Wwcsd” (What would Charles Schultz do?), and produced a animated feature that contains the best of what made “Peanuts” great. The look is as if the comic strip has sprung to life, especially in optional 3D, and the character voices and feel have the same warmth as the familiar TV specials (there are several references along the way to those treats as well). The story was incidental to the subplots that played like mini comic strips, featuring Good Ol’ Charlie Brown,...

I was extremely skeptical of The Peanuts Movie when it was first announced. Could the studio that made the Ice Age and Rio movies really turn the classic Charles M. Schulz comic strip into a worthy CGI movie? Turns out the answer is yes, and The Peanuts Movie has everything you could want from a movie that follows Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Snoopy, Woodstock, and the rest of the gang.
When a new girl moves in across the street, Charlie Brown is immediately smitten, and he spends an entire school year devising various ways to impress her. It's a cute representation of young love, the kind where he's instantly head over heels for this girl even though he's never, you know, actually spoken to her before. It hits all the predictable beats — the crippling insecurity, the eventual boost of confidence, etc. — and though the story is incredibly simple, it's also the kind of wholesome,...

Life always seems complicated for good ol' Charlie Brown, the boy who always tries his best against seemingly impossible odds. When the Little Red-Haired Girl moves into his neighborhood, Charlie Brown finds himself smitten with her. As he deals with his feelings, his best friend Snoopy embarks on his own adventure in a fantasy world. As a World War I flying ace, the lovable beagle pursues his nemesis, the Red Baron, while also trying to win the heart of a beautiful pilot named Fifi.
Peanuts was a great walk back through childhood memories of Charles Shulz's classic characters and storytelling. From the moment the movie starts, we are reminded that this is still Charlie Brown and friends. Each character has an opportunity to reintroduce themselves to a new generation that may have only seen them when their parents forced a holiday special upon them. Make no mistake, this movie is for children,...

It’s not the great reboot, Charlie Brown!
Just over a month into the 65th anniversary of the Peanuts comic strip, Charlie Brown and his pet beagle have returned in a new, syrupy sweet, 3D animated adventure. The Peanuts Movie features the reliable forlorn Charlie Brown suddenly lovestruck by the arrival of a new girl in school, while Snoopy daydreams about flying against the Red Baron and winning the heart of a poofy, pink puppy named Fifi (whose wordless squeaks are voiced by Kristin Chenoweth, for a reason, we assume).
Coming out over 15 years removed from Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz’s death and the end of his iconic comic strip, The Peanuts Movie feels like a relic from a bygone era of languid kids entertainment. Co-writers Craig Schulz (Charles’ son), Bryan Schulz (Charles’ grandson), and Cornelius Uliano (no known relation) retain the wholesome, Americana appeal of the original comics and cartoons – talent shows,...

When we live in an age when everything, no matter how pure the intent of the creator, is simply IP to be farmed, it is right to be suspicious of a "Peanuts" movie. After all, Charlie Brown and the rest of the characters created by Charles Schulz have been huge business for decades, and it makes sense that they would put something together if for no other reason than to keep the characters active in pop culture. Thankfully, it appears that the people behind "The Peanuts Movie" take the legacy of these characters very seriously, and the result is a gentle, charming movie that seems far less frantic than much of what is created for young audiences these days. Blue Sky, one of the two major producers of CG animated films for Fox, has produced ten feature films now, and while the majority of their efforts have been originals, it...

It may not be officially Halloween yet, but the Today show and Good Morning America may have already taken home some best costume awards.
Gma brought their pop culture A-game with a series of epic and hilarious costumes, and the Today show truly brought the characters from the Peanuts cartoon to life.
"This is our Super Bowl, our Christmas, our Thanksgiving…we live for this all year long!" tweeted the Today show, attributing the quote to cohost Savannah Guthrie.

When The Peanuts Movie was first announced, I never thought I'd actually be looking forward to it because, well, c'mon: a CG movie based on the old comic strip? That can't possibly be good, right? Well, it looks like I may have judged too harshly, because pretty much everything I've seen from this movie so far looks terrific. I'll have a chance to see a screening next week and hopefully have a review up here on the site by the time the movie comes to theaters next Friday (November 6th), but in the meantime, check out the film's final trailer from 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios:

On November 6th, you’ll get the chance to Dream Big like never before. The Peanuts Movie is hitting, and the film has released a new trailer celebrating the hidden virtues of not being a winner… or, well, putting Charlie Brown into verb form somehow.
The new trailer gives you an extended look at the film, and the characters, although I can hardly imagine you need it.
The film has also released a PeanutizeMe site, which lets you make yourself into your very own Peanuts Movie avatar. Check that out at – PeanutizeMe.com
The gang is ready for an interesting adventure, as the film seems to be selling us on the culmination of Charlie Brown’s life to this point. The Little Red-Haired Girl plays a significant role, and more importantly, Charlie Brown seems to be looking back at his life, with an eye toward making some big changes. Should be a fun ride.

If you thought Hollywood couldn’t possibly turn a small-scale mobile game into a feature film, then you’ve underestimated their powers for cash-grabbing. The Angry Birds Movie will arrive next year, courtesy of directors Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly, and today brings the first trailer.
While we’re not quite sure what to make of it, the adaptation features a massive voice cast, including Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Kate McKinnon, Bill Hader, Peter Dinklage, Keegan-Michael Key, Tony Hale, Ike Barinholtz, Hannibal Buress, Jillian Bell, Danielle Brooks, Romeo Santos, and Smosh.
We also have a new trailer for an update on Charles Schulz‘s classic comic Peanuts. Directed by Steve Martino (Ice Age: Continental Drift), and produced by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids), the story will follow Snoopy as he imagines what’s going on in his owner’s life, including boarding his doghouse-turned-Sopwith Camel plane and...

The (mis)adventures of Charlie Brown and canine pal Snoopy have been pop cultural stalwarts for decades, so it’s almost surprising it took this long for someone to turn their tales into a CG ‘toon. Still, the rightfully protective family of creator Charles Schulz have been intent on making sure it captures the spirit of the original newspaper cartoon strips, so here comes what is called here Snoopy And Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie. The movie sees Snoopy reconvening with his old pals Linus, Lucy and, of course, Charlie Brown for more canine adventures, some of an aeronautical kind and involving the dreaded Red Baron, air ace and scourge of the skies. Mostly, though, it looks like more of a coming-of-age romance as the adorable and awkward Charlie goes a bit Kevin-Arnold-and-Winnie with the new kid in town. And the new kid? Everyone’s favourite flying beagle is back! Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and the rest of Charles Schulz’s beloved characters are making their big-screen comeback in this November’s The Peanuts Movie.
The entire gang is back, with Lucy, Linus, Sally, Schroeder, Pig Pen, Peppermint Patty and Marcie all accounted for. The plot follows Charlie Brown as he embarks on a quest, which seems largely made up of attempting to make friends with a new girl and trying to get a little respect from his pals.
Meanwhile, Snoopy is still keen as ever to take down his archenemy, the Red Baron. The World War 1 Flying Ace spends a good amount of time patrolling the skies when he isn’t causing trouble for the long-suffering Charlie Brown. It looks like Lucy is still giving psychiatric help, and Marcie is still calling Peppermint Patty “Sir”. Some things just never change.
