Mini Bio (1)
Ronnie Minder is an award-winning film composer whose score for the Australian Western The Legend of Ben Hall (2017) (Executive produced by Greg McLean 'Wolf Creek') was short-listed for a 'Best Original Score' Nomination at the 89th Academy Awards.
Born in Thun, Switzerland, Minder always set his sights on scoring for film. Between scoring opportunities he took his first footsteps in electronic music, working tirelessly to forge his own sound. In 2001, Minder signed his first record contract. His approach of blending movie inspired themes with electronic music, also heavily using orchestral instruments, proved to be a success. He released music on many record labels around the world and his work featured on hundreds of CD compilations globally, also receiving support from heavyweights in electronic music such as Tiësto and Armin van Buuren.
Having made Australia his new home, Minder decided to solely focus on his film scoring in 2014. It didn't take long for him to compose for his first feature film. Inspired by the music of Vangelis, Ennio Morricone and Klaus Doldinger, Minder has an intuitive approach to scoring, learning quickly about the importance of a memorable theme. In the first years of his scoring journey, Minder wrote for international film projects, documentaries, television and commercials, including a campaign for Porsche starring Patrick Dempsey.
Continuing to forge relationships with talented filmmakers from across the globe, Minder wrote, composed and orchestrated the SONY distributed, HBO screened Australian Western 'The Legend of Ben Hall' in 2016. He was one of four Australian composers in the running to be nominated for a 'Best Score' Oscar that year. The score also won the Oniros Film Award for 'Best Original Soundtrack' and also 'Best Composer 2017' at the Australian Screen Industry Network Awards.
Minder proves to be one of the most versatile composers out there, always adding his distinctive and memorable signature sound to each project, whether it's a large, orchestral blockbuster sound composed for 'The Legend of Ben Hall', a sensual, delicate yet anthemic score for Sea Shepherd's first feature film Defend, Conserve, Protect featuring Dan Aykroyd or a terrifying blood curdling drone soundtrack he created for several horror films. Minder's score for the sci-fi film 'Ouroboros' featured a stylised blend of traditional orchestration with contemporary electronic elements and the film was shown in Cannes and Flickerfest. Minder's work has featured in many award-winning films around the world, and his scores have featured in The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, Billboard, Entertainment Weekly. His work has also featured on the front pages of iTunes alongside soundtracks such as Black Panther (2018), Deadpool 2 (2018) and La La Land (2016).
Having made music his main focus very early on in life, Minder now successfully runs his own record label Esperanto Records when he isn't scoring an exciting new film project.
