Nick Norton is a composer, music editor, and sound artist from Los Angeles. He came of age playing in punk and hardcore bands while receiving classical training in the school band and choir, went to college (and graduate school, and more of it) for composition, and learned a ton about music and sound technology along the way.
After earning his PhD Nick taught audio technology, music theory, and songwriting at a few universities. Doing the early-career-audio-thing, he also ran a small high fidelity live sound company prior to the pandemic, and had a day job in classical recording. In the hunt for more stable work (and fueled by a lifelong love of film) he transitioned to post sound after getting hired as an assistant music editor and taking courses for a certificate in digital audio post production from Santa Monica College. He loves cutting music and sound to picture and mixing.
As a composer, he has written for and collaborated with soloists, chamber ensembles, concert series, and orchestras, and loves making cool noises with synthesizers and making use of his production skills in his writing, playing the studio as an instrument. His album Music For Sunsets is slated for release in 2023.
