American Idol” viewers are almost evenly divided as to which of the two most recently eliminated contestants — Jurnee Siani and Catie Turner — was robbed of a place in the Top 5. Both of them saw their time on this ABC revival of “American Idol” come to an end on the May 6 episode that showcased the Top 7. ‘American Idol’ Top 7 power rankings: Gabby Barrett and Cade Foehner are favorites to win season 16

Heading into the May 6 episode of the ABC revival of “American Idol,” we asked you which of the Top 7 would be lucky enough to win season 16. More than half of viewers cast their ballots for one of the two remaining contestants: Gabby Barrett got a whopping 30% of the total vote while Cade Foehner registered 21%.

Of the other five artists still in contention, three — Maddie Poppe, Catie Turner and Michael J. Woodard — earned double digit support. Poppe is at 12%, Turner has 13% and Woodard is fifth with 11% of the total tally. Jurnee Siani managed just 7% while Caleb Lee Hutchinson is last at 6%.

The Monday April 23 episode of the ABC revival of “American Idol” saw the Top 14 reduced to the Top 10. Six of the singers continuing on in the show — Gabby Barrett, Cade Foehner, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Maddie Poppe, Catie Turner and Michael J. Woodard — learnt that they numbered among America’s favorites and earned places in the Top 10 based on their performances on Sunday’s show.

The other eight contestants were told by host Ryan Seacrest that the three judges — Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie — would choose just four of them to move forward in the competition based on the songs that they sung on Monday’s show. On Monday night’s (April 9) “American Idol,” celebrity duets brought together hopefuls with their mentors — Andy Grammer, Bishop Briggs, Luis Fonsi, Pat Monahan, Aloe Blacc, Allen Stone and Sugarland, among them — and several of the contestants more than held their own.
