9-1-1: Lone Star's Brian Michael Smith Breaks Down Naomi's Complicated Feelings About Paul's Transition

9-1-1: Lone Star's Brian Michael Smith Breaks Down Naomi's Complicated Feelings About Paul's Transition
Paul’s mother and sister passed through Austin on Monday’s 9-1-1: Lone Star, resulting in a particularly dramatic family reunion, even for this show.

Though this is the first time viewers are being introduced to Paul’s mom Cynthia (played by Cleo King) and sister Naomi (Regina Hoyles), the chemistry is undeniable. It’s as if we’ve been watching these three share the screen since Day 1, something Brian Michael Smith (aka Paul) also felt from their first day of filming.

‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ Actor Brian Michael Smith on Paul’s Difficult Post-Transition Relationship With His Sister

‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ Actor Brian Michael Smith on Paul’s Difficult Post-Transition Relationship With His Sister
(Warning: This post contains spoilers for Monday’s “9-1-1: Lone Star.”)

Paul Strickland (Brian Michael Smith) and his family learned a lesson about the importance of simply talking to each other on Monday’s “9-1-1: Lone Star.” The 126 member found out that his younger sister isn’t transphobic, as he believed, but rather has been angry and confused about the loss of her “sister” since Paul came out as trans when his now-young-adult sister was 9 years old.

Smith told TheWrap how significant the episode, titled “Everyone and Their Brother,” was to him in particular as a trans actor, who has dealt with complicated changes to close relationships in his own post-transition life.

“I had a nice Zoom with the writers and we talked all of this out,” the “9-1-1: Lone Star” actor said. “And something that I appreciated, as an artist and an actor, I was trying to ask myself

9-1-1 and Lone Star Winter Finales Set at Fox: What's About to Go Down?

9-1-1 and Lone Star Winter Finales Set at Fox: What's About to Go Down?
Two of Fox's biggest shows are entering a hiatus in early March, but they will be doing so with action-packed episodes.

9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star will each conclude for an undetermined amount of time with their March 8 installments, the 8th episodes of their current seasons, it has been announced.

Given the sporadic scheduling of other shows in the Covid-19 era, it's impressive that each of the shows will have aired for eight weeks uninterrupted, but, unfortunately, we don't know when they will be back.

The shows are still deep into production, so it makes sense to put them on hiatus if production needs to catch up. Creating TV since the pandemic comes with more hurdles than before, meaning that the delivery time for the episodes is longer than ever.

So, what can you expect from the winter finales of both 9-1-1 series? We're happy to share what we know.

‘9-1-1: Lone Star': The Gang Meets Salim, Marjan’s Fiancé Since She Was 12 (Exclusive Video)
Monday’s episode of “9-1-1: Lone Star” will introduce the guys of Station 126 to Salim (guest star Mena Massoud), the man who their dear Marjan (Natacha Karam) has apparently been engaged to since she was 12 years old. And viewers at home are sure to be as shocked as Marjan’s friends are when they first find out about this mysterious fiance.

In TheWrap’s exclusive sneak peek at tonight’s “9-1-1: Lone Star,” which is titled, “Friends With Benefits,” the boys are waiting for Marjan to come out after a roller derby race and see another man waiting for her (who viewers might recognize from the live-action “Aladdin”).

Mateo (Julian Works) and Paul (Brian Michael Smith) are worried he might be a “creep” as he approaches her but when they get close and ask her if “everything is good here?” she tells them who he is.

‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ Showrunner on Buck and T.K.’s Destined Team-Up, Future Crossover Ideas

‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ Showrunner on Buck and T.K.’s Destined Team-Up, Future Crossover Ideas
(Warning: This post contains spoilers for tonight’s “9-1-1”/”9-1-1: Lone Star” crossover.)

Austin’s Station 126 finally met some of the members of Los Angeles’ 118 on Monday’s “9-1-1: Lone Star,” which featured the long-awaited crossover with parent series “9-1-1.” The lucky few — or unlucky, depending on how you look at some of the things that happen during the hour — who get to make the 20-hour trip to help put out a massive wildfire in Texas are Buck (Oliver Stark), Eddie (Ryan Guzman) and Hen (Aisha Hinds), who almost immediately are split up into three different storylines connecting them with “Lone Star’s” leads.

And that aspect of the crossover was very important to Tim Minear, who is showrunner on both “9-1-1” and “Lone Star,” so that he could create the quick bonds among the two teams that would be necessary in order for them to join

9-1-1 Crosses Over With Lone Star in Fiery Trailer

9-1-1 Crosses Over With Lone Star in Fiery Trailer
This will be a crossover to remember.

Fox on Thursday dropped the first trailer for the highly anticipated crossover between 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star, which is set to air as the third episode of the season for the latter show.

9-1-1: Lone Star Season 2 Episode 2 perfectly set up the crossover with the 126 dealing with a volcano eruption.

In a wild final scene, we learned that the lava would spark a huge forest fire that would require reinforcements from other states.

The clip shows Buck (Oliver Stark), Eddie (Ryan Guzman), and Hen (Aisha Hinds) making the jump to Austin, where they will join forces with Owen, T.K. and the rest of the 126.

It is poised to be a high-stakes mission for survival, not only for the civilians but for the frontline workers putting themselves in the firing line to save the lives of everyone in their path.

9-1-1: Lone Star Season 2 Release Date, Cast, Trailer, Episodes, and Story Details

9-1-1: Lone Star Season 2 Release Date, Cast, Trailer, Episodes, and Story Details
It’s not often that a show going into only its third season receives a spinoff, but such was the case with Fox’s popular first responder series 9-1-1. That Los Angeles-set series gave way to the Rob Lowe-starring 9-1-1: Lone Star, which premiered on Jan. 19, 2020.

The spinoff experiment was a successful one and now 9-1-1: Lone Star season 2 is set to arrive one year later. Perhaps there’s never been a better time for two simultaneously running shows about 911 first responders. Given the coronavirus pandemic and the general mounting crises of life in the U.S. over the past year, viewers may come to further appreciate shows about professionals during their best work under unimaginable circumstances.

As evidenced by advanced photos showing characters wearing masks, 9-1-1: Lone Star will be set in the pandemic-stricken world its viewers’ occupy. Not only that,

Per The Wrap, the highly anticipated crossover between 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star will finally see the light of day on Monday, February 3.

The bulk of the action will take place on 9-1-1: Lone Star, which makes sense because many of the 9-1-1 characters will be headed to Austin, Texas, where Lone Star is set.

Evan 'Buck' Buckley (Oliver Stark), Henrietta 'Hen' Wilson (Aisha Hinds), and Eddie Diaz (Ryan Guzman) -- all from the original series -- will be a part of the action.

As for what they will face on the spinoff, we know the answer:

A huge wildfire.

It will certainly be fun to see the characters from two very different worlds meet and fight for survival.

Laverne Cox On The Lasting Impact Of ‘Disclosure’: Emboldening Trans Representation By Taking Action – Q&a

Laverne Cox On The Lasting Impact Of ‘Disclosure’: Emboldening Trans Representation By Taking Action – Q&a
Laverne Cox has been and still is changing the game when it comes to the representation of the trans community and Black people in film and TV. She continues to bolster this message of inclusion of marginalized voices as an executive producer on Netflix’s Sam Feder-directed Disclosure. More than just a documentary, it’s a call to action as well as a lesson in history that has been swept under the rug.

When it comes to representation of the trans community in media, it has been more harmful than helpful, perpetuating a negative stigma of violence, shame and ridicule in regards to the trans community with no room for nuance. Disclosure starts a long-overdue journey to undo some of those portrayals.

Like all underrepesented communities, the trans experience is not a monolith, and it hasn’t portrayed authentically until recently with series such as Pose and Transparent. Before this groundbreaking series,
