Born and raised in Moura, Queensland in 1983, Ashley landed his first television job working as a news camera
operator for Seven Local News (1990) - a
half-hour news broadcast on the Seven Network in Rockhampton and later, Townsville.
He pursued his film interest in 2012, moving to Brisbane for film and television studies after being accepted into the Queensland School of Film & Television's diploma in Screen and Media. He later transferred to QPIX - a nearby film institution, graduating with a Diploma in Screen and Media in late 2013.
Ashley has since been nominated for numerous awards and won two, one for producing and the other for directing.
At present, Ashley is in development for a feature film Long Shadows (2014).
