Is an Multicultural Filmmaker and an Emmy-Award Winning Visual Effects Artist and Supervisor best known for his work on Fox's primetime show, Gotham (2014).
He was born on May 16, 1986 in Quezon City, Philippines. Despite moving to a different part of the country soon after, he resided in Philippines until the age of 6 before moving to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates where he stayed until the end of high school. With extended family's invitation, he moved to New South Wales, Australia in 2003 with the hope of applying to the Australian Film, Television and Radio School before, ultimately, immigrating to the United States in the summer of 2004 to pursue higher education. He graduated with a degree in Visual Effects from the Art Institute of California - Los Angeles in 2011.
He developed an early interest in visual effects in high school after a friend's introduction to Adobe Photoshop with Imageready. He later bought his first camera, an Acer Digital Camera 300, which he used to take footage of family and friends in his room to emulate effects from his favorite television shows and movies such as The WB's Charmed (1998) and the X-Men (2000) films.
During film school he was involved in multi-departmental collaborations where he often functioned as a visual effects supervisor for Video Production student short films in exchange for having them crew up for his directorial projects. He credits the development of his early short film Amanda & The Guardian (2011) as a major component to success.
While he developed his early skills at his first professional experience as a Stereoscopic Compositor at Legend 3D, he was given the opportunity to uniquely hone them as Visual Effects Generalist at CoSA VFX where he closely worked under the mentorship of fellow Emmy-Award Winning peers, Art Director Sina San and Compositing Supervisor Alex Gitler.
He was first nominated with the Gotham (2014) Season 1 team for Visual Effects in a Supporting in a Supporting Role in 2015 which they, subsequently, lost to American Horror Story (2011). Then, in late 2017, they won the Emmy for Special Visual Effects in a Supporting Role for the Gotham Season 3 finale, "Heavydirtysoul."
In September 2017, he entered a new role as the Lead Visual Effects Artist on the third season of Fox's Lucifer (2016) followed by leading the development of the Environments and Digital Matte Painting Department at CoSA VFX in February 2018, pioneering department workflows for HBO's Westworld (2016) and other major projects in house.
He is committed to telling stories that blend sci-fi and fantasy elements with real-world themes and current issues in a globalized, multicultural setting and showcasing new stories from underrepresented cultures in the mainstream media. He is currently developing an upcoming supernatural drama that features a unique blend of Philippine Mythology and Urban Americana.
