Born in Brussels, Belgium, David was the first child to Anna Kielbowicz (Polish) and Wlad Bawiec (Belgian). His talent for music he received from his mother who was a pianist and a composer. Although he started playing the piano as a child, his music education path was a very bumpy and tough one. Primarily he went to a lower music school, however had to quit music school a couple years later due to time constraints caused by his primary education path. David decided not to disconnect completely from his music education by taking private piano lessons.
After having finished high school he decided to study Roman Philology at the Warsaw University in Poland. This however lasted only one year. He soon discovered this was not the path for him and put every effort into becoming a musician.
David Bawiec was the first person in over 25 years to pass the entrance exams to the Frederick Chopin University of Music without having finished a music middle or high school. In 2005 He began his studies at the "choral conducting" major.

Always being a go-getter that followed his dreams, in 2007 David started his application process to one of the most prestigious music colleges in the world - Berklee College Of Music in Boston, USA. Out of thousands of auditioned students, David was one of the few who had been chosen to start their music education at Berklee. Not only did he successfully pass the entrance exams, he also received a scholarship from the college for having presented "high level of talent and musical promise".
Within roughly a couple semesters at the college David had been awarded multiple prizes and awards in various competitions, including winning the "Song of The Year" award at the Berklee Songwriting Competition. Additionally all 3 songs he submitted won the "Curtain Up: Musical Theater Contest". His growth as a musician has been incredible, which was noticed by the college itself, resulting in a substantial increase in his scholarship.

After the show Angélique Kidjo came backstage and told him "I love what you did with my song! Your arrangement was just perfect!"
