Peter Kwaloff(1953-2016)
Sun PK (born Peter Kwaloff) earned a BA degree from the School of Visual Arts, although he himself said that college "cured me of art." He worked in merchandising display, bartending, charter yacht crewing in the Virgin Islands, as assistant manager of a retail sex toy shop, drag entertainer, retail fabric sales and management, jingle writer (Nick at Nite, TV Land, The Rugrats, Club Disney), Broadway costume designer assistant with Tony award winner Ann Hould-Ward, and assistant project management for renowned interior decorator, Thomas Jayne.
Tired of not doing what he wanted to do, Sun PK decided to focus on his own vision. He recorded an acclaimed 'Neo Sunshine Pop' (alternative soft rock) album of his own songs called "Inquire Within" which received airplay on many American college radio stations. The CD also aired in London, France and Japan (where it was released as "It's A Smiley Face World" on Air Mail Recordings).
He was a frequent drag performer at Manhattan's Club 57, The Pyramid Club and The Roxy. He also had showings of his paintings in various galleries (Artspace - Utica, NY and Studio 4 West - Piermont, NY) in June and July of 2001.
In his "spare" time, he produced CD compilations of obscure 1950s-1960s sunshine pop music, which he shared with other like-minded collectors.
