-Uncle and grandfather on his mother's side, Mark and Sam, were working musicians who inspired him to take up music as a teenager before their passing in 2000 and 2010 respectively. His grandfather (Poppa Sam), a marine war veteran, bought him his first electric and acoustic guitar; after the war he toured with Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings and was the lead singer, songwriter and stand-up bass player for acts such as Sons of the Golden West and Sammy & The Cut Ups. He was known for his in-between song and set comedic style of entertaining the crowd and his western rockabilly wardrobe which still influences Collin today.
