Shaun Hughes is an award-winning Scottish filmmaker developing his debut feature film THE PROSPECT, with development support from Screen Scotland and BFI. He has previously been selected for SFTN's Shorts to Features initiative and was a participant in Stowe Story Labs' Narrative Lab (2018), Writer's Retreat (2019), and Feature Campus (2021). Shaun was commissioned to make his publicly funded short BUNNY through SFTN's Scottish Shorts in 2018, with support from Creative Scotland and BFI. BUNNY went on to win the CELTIC MEDIA TORC AWARD for Best Short Drama in 2019, BEST UK SHORT at Indie-Lincs, was aired on BBC Scotland's THE NEXT BIG THING, and was picked up for distribution with Shorts International and boutique label Altered Innocence. The film was recently featured alongside the work of Peter Strickland and Yann Gonzalez on the Blu-ray/DVD/Streaming release ALTERED INNOCENCE VOL 1. Shaun's work has played in domestic and international film festivals including Tampere Film Festival, Edinburgh International Film Festival, Reykjavik International Film Festival, and Aesthetica Short Film Festival. He was an active participant in both Reykjavík and Edinburgh International Film Festival Talent Labs in 2015. Shaun has an MA in Film Directing (awarded with distinction) from Screen Academy Scotland, and an MFA in Fine Art. His graduation film NO MORE SHALL WE PART won a BAFTA New Talent award for Cinematography. Shaun is developing a slate of four feature films and a 6-part TV series.
