Kate's love of film goes back to a childhood raised on a ranch in rural
Saskatchewan, watching black-and-white classics on late-night
television or seeing films at the local Dreamland Theatre. The first
film she ever saw? The Wizard of Oz at the age of four.
She has worked in a variety of areas in film and television: on-camera as an actor; and on set behind the scenes as both a production assistant, locations coordinator and a prop assistant. She also delved into the world of film and television distribution, and had a producer-like role at a film-funding agency.
Film gives Kate a chance to marry her three loves-words, pictures and music-to tell stories for the big and small screen. Book Club is her directorial debut. Kate is developing an animated short film, a factual entertainment TV series and a feature-length documentary.
