"You made a crucial mistake..." "I'm gonna do what I do best." Vertical Ent. has revealed an official trailer for Wrong Place, yet another of these B-movie crime thrillers with Bruce Willis. You thought they were done?! They've probably got a dozen more of these lined-up, sadly, clearly manipulating Bruce into just working and work. In this film, a meth cook hunts down the former police chief of a small town in order to silence him before he can deliver eyewitness testimony against his family, but ultimately finds himself up against more than he had bargained for when he threatens the chief's daughter. Starring Ashley Greene, Bruce Willis, Michael Sirow, Texas Battle, Stacey Danger, & Massi Furlan. This looks as formulaic and as obvious and as cheesy as expected. Film Review: ‘4/20 Massacre’

Not really the stupid stoner humor-dominated horror comedy you might expect, “4/20 Massacre” is a fairly straightforward indie slasher that’s only semi-tongue-in-cheek. Though it can’t claim to be the first such exercise, it does gain novelty value and some specialized appeal from having a mostly lesbian protagonist roll call. Unmemorable but fun as far as it goes, Dylan Reynolds’ very female-driven thriller launches on VOD and DVD April 3, with a single-screen Los Angeles theatrical run starting (of course) 4/20.

From the get-go hewing closely to slasher conventions, sexual orientation aside, Reynolds’ screenplay starts with a couple of gormless rural bros (Mark Schroeder, Drew Talbert) traipsing into a somewhat arid mountain region (the pic was shot in the vicinity of the San Bernardino National Forest, near Los Angeles). They’re certain there’s a hidden illegal pot farm around here somewhere, and their none-too-bright goal is simply to steal some weed from the “criminals.

Stoner slasher 4/20 Massacre gets a trailer, poster and images

Ahead of its home entertainment release next month, a poster, trailer and batch of stills have arrived online for the upcoming stoner slasher 4/20 Massacre. Directed by Dylan Reynolds, the film stars Jamie Bernadette, Vanessa Rose Parker, Justine Wachsberger, Stacey Danger, Marissa Pistone, Jim Storm, Mark Schroeder, Jim Round, Drew Talbert, and James Gregory; check them out here…

From writer/director Dylan Reynolds comes the story of five women who go camping in the woods to celebrate a friend’s birthday over the 4/20 weekend. But when they cross the turf of an illegal marijuana growing operation they must struggle to survive the living nightmare.

4/20 Massacre is set for release on April 3rd.

Shults’ “Krisha”, Heller’s “Teenage Girl” & Haynes’ “Safe” Part of 8th Wassaic Project Film Fest

American indie film love is on full display at a fest that I’ve coined farm version of Telluride. The 8th edition of the Wassaic Project Film Festival will take off at the tail end of the month and the curators have landed Todd Haynes’ masterwork Safe and a foursome of worthy items (not including a special in-progress feature film screening) for the ’15 edition.

Sundance preemed items in Marielle Heller’s The Diary of a Teenage Girl and Lyric R. Cabral and David Felix Sutcliffe’s (T)error will be shown alongside SXSW/Cannes profiled Krisha from Trey Edward Shults and Sam Cullman’s Tribeca showcased Art and Craft. The fest runs from July 31st until August 2nd in Wassaic, New York. Pitch up a tent and go watch these features – as well as shorts selected by the Wassaic Project and Jason Sondhi of Vimeo Staff Picks and Short of the Week.
