Shanae Sharon(I)

Shanae Sharon was born and raised in the Wesr Oak Lane section of Philadelphia to Joseph Sharon and Vickie Caldwell. She began acting in kindergarten when she was casts as Little Red Riding Hood's grandmother in a school production. Her love for performing grew and she loved re-enacting historical characters in school and church during her early years.
When she was 15 Shanae had a life changing experience, she was invited into a program called "Journey to a Freedom" which allowed her to portray various characters in a production that chronicled the black experience in America from slavery to present day. She traveled to Senegal and Nigeria to perform with this program which made her commit to seeking further work as an actress. She participated in high school productions and productions with her drama ministry at church.
She then went on to attend the University of Pittsburgh, there she became connected with the Kuntu Repertory Theatre, the first African-American theatre company in Pittsburgh, PA, and the first theatre to produce the works of August Wilson. She also became affiliated with the Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre Company as an actress and director. Her most memorable experience was acting on their August in April festival which highlighted the works of August Wilson and was hosted by James Earl Jones.
She grew her talents as a stage director and relocated to New York City where invited to participate in the Lincoln Center Theater's Directors Lab, she was also invited to take part in the Stage Directors and Choreographer's Observership program. While living in New York, she worked with AUDELCO and also helped form the Riverview Players of Harlem, a community arts collaborative, alongside playwright Laurence Holder. She also wrote a screenplay "Timing" and was accepted into the NAMIC Writer's Workshop.
Shanae relocated to Los Angeles, CA where she continued writing and began working on a co-produced web series, "Sisters & Their Misters" and other projects. She also acted in "Casual Friday" a short film produced by Mark Anthony Benson and other projects. She also begin working with several organizations as a teaching artists.
Shanae is completed her MA in Educational Theatre at NYU (2015), she continues to work as a teaching artist and stage director and is excited to take on new acting projects.
