Paddington details the origins of Paddington Brown, one of most beloved bears of children’s literature – from deepest, darkest Peru to stuffy, rainy London — where he was adopted, somewhat reluctantly, by the Brown family. Director/writer Paul King brings the bear to life with all the technology that the modern world can offer while the voice of Ben Whishaw completes the illusion in this charming and just silly enough film. Hugh Bonneville and Sally Hawkins lead the Brown pack as Mr. and Mrs. Brown, who foil each other at almost every turn. Bonneville’s grumpy, cautious patriarch fears what Paddington could do to their home without the proper insurance, while Hawkins’ compassionate, optimistic matriarch is ready to welcome Paddington with open arms. Bonneville and Hawkins play off each other smoothly, pushing their characters only slightly to the realm of the absurd. At first, Mr. Brown’s hesitancy to accept Paddington seems to be the only problem, but...

Paddington Bear goes from Peru to your local Odeon, with surprisingly strong results...
Now here's a family film that does an awful lot of things right. Based on Michael Bond's books, Paddington brings Peru's most famous bear to the screen, courtesy of a CG creation in the midst of a live action world.
Boasting the voice of Ben Whishaw (a relatively late replacement for Colin Firth), we're introduced to Paddington in an outstanding opening ten minutes, where his world is pretty much turned upside down. Through a series of events, and a tragedy, he ends up alone, at Paddington Station. Where nobody seems interested in him at all.
That is until the Brown family walk by. Hugh Bonneville's Mr Brown isn't much of an initial fan, but it's Samuel Joslin's Jonathan Brown who instantly warms to Paddington, and off they go to the London suburbs. It must...

The Australian Army’s 34th Battalion arrived in France in 1916 and fought against the Germans on the Western Front. The unit’s little-heralded story will be chronicled in the ensemble war drama The 34th Battalion.
A soccer hardman and Hollywood action star, Vinnie Jones and Avatar’s Stephen Lang will now join a cast that includes Luke Hemsworth (brother of Chris and Liam Hemsworth), Emilie de Ravin (Brick), Charles Mesure (Desperate Housewives), Les Hill and Andrew Lees of Rescue Special Ops, Claire van der Boom (Hawaii Five-0), Tony Bonner (Quigley Down Under, and Vince Colosimo (Body of Lies), respectively.
Jones will play the British-born Lieutenant-Colonel who led the battalion, while Lang is a U.S. officer who is part of the squad.
Ian Sparke will serve as executive producer and his son Luke Sparke will be making his directorial debut on the feature. The father-son team also wrote the screenplay.
