Nikolay Velikanov is an award-winning director and producer whose passion for cinema has been with him since his early childhood. He has always dreamt of making films and sharing his vision with the world. His film "Through the Indian Eyes" (2011) received the Best Short Documentary Film award at the Los Angeles Cinema Festival of Hollywood, as well as the Award of Excellence at the Los Angeles Movie Awards. The film "No Turning Back: The Russian Heat of West Sacramento" (2019) was a semi-finalist at the INTREDOC Documentary Film Festival in Moscow, Russia. The project "Into the Light: The Orthodox Faith" (2023) made it to the Christian Family Film Festival. The project "Synthetic Identity" (2013) also received nominations at the Blow-Up Chicago International Arthouse Film Festival and earned an Official Selection at the Independent Filmmaker Showcase. Additionally, the movie "Mission Control" (2013) achieved international distribution on INDIEFLIX.
Nikolay graduated from the Russian New University, earning a degree in "Socio-cultural Services and Tourism." This marked his first step toward realizing his cinematic dream. During his studies, Nikolay traveled the world to study different cultures and began filming documentaries. His debut documentary feature "This is America" (2008), explored the intricacies of American culture. His passion for cinema led him to the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles, where he earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting and Filmmaking. This educational experience was a pivotal moment in his professional career, enriching his knowledge and skills in the world of cinema. Nikolay also produced films such as "Temptation" (2010) and "Divine Intervention" (2010), directed by Luis Eduardo Valencia, which garnered numerous awards in the independent film festival circuit.
