‘The Voice’ Top 8 Instant Save: Andrew Sevener was wrong artist to rescue, say 54% of viewers

‘The Voice’ Top 8 Instant Save: Andrew Sevener was wrong artist to rescue, say 54% of viewers
On Tuesday’s edition of “The Voice,” the middle three vote getters among the Top 8 artists were Andrew Sevener from Team Blake Shelton, Shawn Sounds from Team John Legend and Kelly Clarkson‘s last act, Rod Stokes. Each had to sing one more song to try and send enough viewers to Twitter to earn the Instant Save.

While Andrew won with the social media crowd, other fans of the show were less enthusiastic and said he didn’t deserve to move forward in the competition. By a margin of 54% to 46%, “The Voice” viewers preferred the performance by one of the other two contenders for the last slot in the Top 4.

Shawn garnered 39% support while Rod racked up 15% of the total tally as of this writing. Perhaps the fact that Andrew sang first helped him in the public vote.

‘The Voice’ Top 8 Instant Save: Was right artist rescued by viewers of season 16? [Poll]
On the May 14 live results show of “The Voice,” the middle three vote getters among the Top 8 artists were, as we predicted: Andrew Sevener from Team Blake Shelton, Shawn Sounds from Team John Legend and Kelly Clarkson‘s lone artist, Rod Stokes. That meant these three fellows had to compete in the Instant Save.

Each had to sing one more song to try and win votes cast by viewers via Twitter to earn the last slot in the Top 4 alongside Maelyn Jarmon, Gyth Rigdon and Dexter Roberts.

Sevener was up first and delivered a haunting rendition of the Lynyrd Skynyrd classic “Simple Man,” which launched the band back in 1973. Up next was Stokes, who made “Brother,” a 2015 chart-topper for Christian rock band Needtobreathe, his own. Sounds closed out the sing-off with a rollicking version of the Bruno Mars #1 hit, “That’s What I Like.”

‘The Voice’ Top 8 results show: Which 4 singers go to finale; which 4 are eliminated? [Updating Live Blog]
After the Top 8 artists performed on Monday’s episode of “The Voice,” they now await their fate on Tuesday’s results show. Four will move on to next week’s finale for Season 16. Four talented singers will unfortunately be eliminated.

For this Top 8, Blake Shelton has an astonishing five of them. It’s possible only one team member goes home and the other four make up the Top 4 finale. More likely, however, is that Kelly Clarkson and/or John Legend will have someone also in the finale. Coach Adam Levine is done for this season.

For tonight’s one-hour episode hosted by Carson Daly, here’s how the competition will work:

Three contenders will automatically advance forward through public voting. Two will immediately be eliminated on this show. Three will perform for an Instant Save on social media, with just one joining the Top 4 finale next week.

‘American Idol’ 18 is probably a reality — but will Katy, Lionel and Luke return as judges? [Poll]

‘American Idol’ 18 is probably a reality — but will Katy, Lionel and Luke return as judges? [Poll]
First the good news: As the latest edition of “American Idol” is about to end on May 19, plans are afoot for a third season on ABC.

The less good news? Just when the latest crew of judges – kooky Katy Perry, avuncular Lionel Richie and good ol’ boy Luke Bryan –have clicked as a team, it appears that the ABC reincarnation of the former Fox reality singing competition might be re-thinking the threesome who delivers the “yays” and “nays” to the wanna-be stars.

As “Variety” has reported, the network and its production company, Fremantle Media North America, are in the early stages negotiating new deals with the talents currently sitting behind the table. But the decision depends on cost concerns. Consider that Perry was pocketing a whopping $25 million for the first ABC season in 2018.

Billboard Music Awards winners 2019: Full list of BBMAs winners
The 2019 Billboard Music Awards were presented on Wednesday night, May 1, during a ceremony that took place at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and was hosted for the second time by Kelly Clarkson. So who came away with the most prizes? Scroll down to see the complete list of winners in every category honoring the most successful artists, songs and albums.

The BBMAs are decided differently than other music prizes. Where awards like the Grammys and ACMs are voted on by industry insiders and the VMAs and American Music Awards pick their winners by fans voting online, these kudos are determined using the metrics that also determine the Billboard charts every week. That includes album and digital song sales, streaming performance, radio airplay, touring success and social engagement, as tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound.
