'Battlestar Galactica' Star Katee Sackhoff Joins Female 'Expendables'

'Battlestar Galactica' Star Katee Sackhoff Joins Female 'Expendables'
The casting for the female version of "The Expendables" is off to a great start.

"Battlestar Galactica" alum Katee Sackhoff has joined Gina Carano in the film, Variety reports. The two women are just the first of likely a large ensemble that will grace a big screen near us in the next few years, and producer Adi Shankar apparently thinks bringing Sackhoff on board was a given.

"If you spend five minutes with Katee it becomes blatantly obvious that she would pwn (sic) most male action stars," he told Variety.

It's true: though she started off as a model, Sackoff quickly made a name for herself as the tough-as-nails Starbuck in "Battlestar Galactica." She since starred as Dana Walsh in the 2010 season of "24" and has joined Vin Diesel in the upcoming "Chronicles of Riddick" movie, neither of which are roles for the faint of heart.

With these two locked down,

'24' & 'Battlestar Galactica' Star Katee Sackhoff Lands Female Lead In New 'Riddick' Sequel

Oh, so we guess that new "Chronicles Of Riddick" movie is happening after all. After pre-production was abruptly shut down in Montreal late last fall, and then started up again before the end of the year, it appears it's all systems go at Universal for Vin Diesel and David Twohy as the project, which last we heard was waiting a greenlight, now appears to be on the move.  Deadline reveals that Katee Sackhoff -- perhaps best known as Dana Walsh on "24" or by nerds for her turn as Captain Thrace on "Battlestar Galactica" -- has snagged the female lead opposed Diesel in the upcoming, and still untitled movie set to be directed by David Twohy. A pretty vague synopsis has been floating around for this one that centers on Riddick who is left for dead on an isolated planet and has to fight for survival against alien predators. Soon bounty

Top 10 screen computer geeks

Just who are the geekiest computer geeks of the large and small screen? Here’s Michael’s list of suggestions…

Jim Carrey had a point when he said, “Free cable is the ultimate aphrodisiac”, as frankly, anyone who can hand out free cable is going to be popular.

However, even The Cable Guy might find his social influence supplanted these days by the nearest computer geek. Gradually, computers have developed from a niche interest into something that everyone depends on to get through life. As a result, the computer geek has enjoyed a transformation from outcast to linchpin.

The geek is a stock character of both the big screen and the small. A character such as Garth from Wayne's World doesn't fit into our narrow definition of a computer geek. Does he use his Amiga to create a colourful poster for his friends’ rock concert? Yes. Does he put a

The Best TV Character Deaths of 2010

The Best TV Character Deaths of 2010
On TV, death is a good thing. Death shakes up the status quo. Death eliminates annoying characters, and it sends off beloved characters with an emotionally-explosive bang. The threat of main-character death has hovered over some of the greatest TV shows of the last ten years. Some shows, like 24, practically made a game out of their gleeful employment of the Death Twist, an out-of-nowhere elimination of an apparently central character. (Be honest: you had a couple bets going on who would die in the Lost finale, right?) Killing off a main character can be just a cheap gimmick, but when it’s done well,

Katee Sackhoff is a Sexy Evil Genius

  • JoBlo
I know it's not fair to judge an actor by how much you dislike their characters, but man, do I hate Katee Sackhoff roles to date. Starbuck was the biggest loose end of the Battlestar Galactica finale, as her character was left "open to interpretation" (aka, the writers had no clue what to do with her), and most recently in 24, I have never wanted a character dead more than Dana Walsh. But now she's making the jump to film, and perhaps I'll have more of a taste for her there. She's...

Katee Sackhoff Shows up on CSI

Hey all you Battlestar Galactica fans we've got your first look at Starbuck on CSI. It was announced last month that BSG and 24 alum, Katee Sackhoff, will guest star on an upcoming episode of CSI. Well that episode, "Cold Blooded," is right around the corner. It airs on Thursday, Oct. 28 on CBS. Sackhoff will play Detective Frankie Reed, a rough and tough officer who helps the CSI team solve their crime du jour. What do you think of a red-headed Katee? Are you excited to see her kick some Las Vegas butt? Maybe a CSI stint will help me forget how disappointing she was as Dana Walsh on the last season of 24. [Ausiello]

While you wait for the episode, take a first look at Sackhoff as Detective Reed.

Exclusive: Katee Sackhoff Returning to 'Big Bang Theory'!
Filed under: TV News, Celebrity Interviews, Fall TV

My new AOL TV column doesn't officially debut until Sept. 1 -- and debut it will, with a title and picture and everything. But when the nerd Batphone rings, you can be sure Mo Ryan will answer it, whether or not the Photoshop wizards have finished working on my column photo.

I found out that 'The Big Bang Theory' is breaking out the big guns for its impending move to Thursdays, and I just had to get this exclusive news out there now: Katee Sackhoff is guest starring on the CBS comedy again this fall.

The actress, who played Kara "Starbuck" Thrace on 'Battlestar Galactica' and Dana Walsh on '24,' won't be in the season premiere of 'Big Bang' (Thurs., Sept. 23, 8Pm Et on CBS), but keep reading for scoop on that one, too.
