A proud native New Yorker, Melanie Lentz-Janney has over 25 years'
experience in entertainment public relations, advertising and brand
marketing. She has spent the past four years producing/marketing her
passion project, An Affair of the Heart, an award-winning feature
documentary about Rick Springfield and his devoted fans. The film
focuses on lifelong fandom and the healing power of music in our lives.
It had a successful film festival run in 2012 before opening
theatrically at the IFC Center for 9 days. It's currently airing on
EPIX, available on DVD/BluRay, and was released on iTunes and other
leading digital platforms on May 6, 2014.
Prior to starting her own agency, Doverwood Communications in 2002,
Melanie spent over 10 years working at several prestigious advertising
and PR firms. Her clients have included: Walt Disney World Resorts,
Wyndham Hotels, and Hard Rock Live. She has also worked on various
publicity/promotional initiatives with studios such as Sony Pictures,
Miramax, 20th Century Fox, Fox Searchlight, Paramount Pictures, Screen
Gems, Dimension Films; television networks VH-1, MTV, A/E; as well as
with several film festivals (Global Peace Film Festival; and the 2013
and 2014 Long Island International Film Expo).
In 2010, she collaborated with Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Sylvia
Caminer and together created Yellow Rick Road Productions, LLC . In
addition to the Rick Springfield documentary, Melanie has several
projects in development and is part of the producing team of two
feature fiction films (including "Living with the Dead") and two
feature documentaries.
The Orlando Business Journal has recognized Melanie as one of the "100
Most Influential Business People" in Central Florida. She was the first
Executive Director of Women in Film & TV - Florida (WIFT-FL) and has
been involved with the organization since 2001. In addition to being
the Executive Director, she has chaired the PR Committee, held the VP
position, an active board member and holds a dual membership with
NYWIFT. Melanie is also a member of Film Florida and the Enzian Film
Society.
In addition to running two businesses, she is focusing on writing her
first book which she hopes will inspire other people to fearlessly
follow their dreams as well as a screenplay. However, her biggest joy
in life is being mom to her son, Drake.
