Vonne Patiag is a multiple AACTA, AWGIE, Logie and SPA Award nominated Showrunner, Producer, Writer, Director and Actor working in TV and Film based in Sydney, Australia.
His recent credits include writing and producing anthology feature film 'Here Out West' for Co-Curious, Emerald Productions and ABC, which recently premiered as the Opening Night Film for Sydney Film Festival 2021, and the 4x1 hour TV series 'The Unusual Suspects' for Aquarius Films and SBS, both landmark moments of representation for Filipino communities on screen. For these, he has been nominated for an AWGIE for Best Original Feature Screenplay, and AACTA, Logie and SPA Award for Best Miniseries respectively. He recently was a writer on 'Significant Others' for Fremantle Australia and ABC.
Vonne is renowned as one of Australia's youngest Showrunners, having show-run 'Halal Gurls' for ABC, where he oversaw writing, producing, directing, editing and the social media release strategy of the series. The online series has been nominated for the AACTA for Best Online Series, an AWGIE for Best Script - Web Series and Best Online Production at the SPA Awards. He also directed and wrote short films 'Tomgirl' (2018) for SBS and 'Window' (2016), which premiered at the St Kilda Film Festival. With his feature adaptation of 'Tomgirl', he was recently invited to the prestigious TIFF Filmmaker Lab, and the Inside Out Film Finance Forum 2021. The 'Tomgirl' screenplay was also shortlisted for the Sundance Writer's Lab.
He also writes and performs for the stage, with his one-man show 'the life cycle of blanco' opening to a sold out Sydney season in November 2020, and is set to make its main stage debut with the National Theatre of Parramatta in 2023. His full-length play 'Obviously!', a queer sitcom/theatre hybrid which he wrote, directed and starred in, opened at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre in 2018.
