Wilmer Valderrama Hosts Kids In Need Of Defense (Kind) Benefit at Bolon in La

Kind Los Angeles, an exclusive cocktail reception benefitting Kids In Need Of Defense (Kind), was hosted by Wilmer Valderrama at the new Bolon Los Angeles showroom and historic Helms Design Center in Culver City on Saturday, August 4.

Kind Los Angeles introduced the La entertainment, design and philanthropic communities to Kind. The event highlighted Kind’s work protecting and defending immigrant children suffering in detention centers during the current border crisis. Kind provides high quality pro bono legal representation to immigrant children separated from their parents and helps to reunite children with their parents and families.

Presented by Bolon and Boom Events, the cocktail party was hosted by actor and activist Wilmer Valderrama who participated in a special presentation with Kind President Wendy Young; Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Sonia Nazario; and Alejandra Valdez, a teenage former Kind client originally from El Salvador.

Will Patton, Alicia Sanz & Adan Canto Set As Leads In Brad Parker’s Horror Film From 1inMM Productions
Exclusive: Will Patton, Alicia Sanz, and Adan Canto, and Zach Avery have been tapped to star in a yet-to-be-titled horror film which will shoot in Kentucky next month. Brad Parker (Chernobyl Diaries) is directing the film from a script by Eric Scherbarth and Stefan Jaworski. Julio and Diego Hallivis are producing and financing the pic via 1inMM Productions.

The plot centers on a geological expedition to an Appalachian sinkhole that becomes a terrifying fight for survival against a mysterious deadly force.

Jaworski and Chinaza Uchi round out the cast. Alejandro De Leon and Andres Rosende are also producing the project with Jared Ian Goldman as an executive producer.

Sanz was seen in the Steven Soderbergh-executive produced sci-fi thriller Perfect, which debuted at SXSW, and co-stars in James Cox’s upcoming film Billionaire Boys Club. Canto currently stars ABC’s opposite Kiefer Sutherland in ABC’s Designated Survivor while Avery

“A boy in a cold and stark modern house, in a vaguely science fictional world, is seduced by advertisements of perfection to install implantable characteristics directly into his body. The implants heal his dark, twisted visions, but come with a corporeal cost. He persists on applying them, hoping to reach perfection, but ultimately he discovers that purity of mind is not exactly as he’s imagined.”

First Trailer for Intriguing Retro Sci-Fi Project 'Perfect' Playing at SXSW

"Be careful, sweetheart, don't get too close." Whoa, this looks trippy. A trailer has debuted for a retro sci-fi film titled Perfect, premiering at the SXSW Film Festival this month. This experimental, creative project is about a boy who goes to a mysterious genetic-engineering clinic, only to discover the price of perfection will cost him everything, including his mind, body and his soul. Garrett Wareing stars as the boy, along with Abbie Cornish, Courtney Eaton, Tao Okamoto, Martin Sensmeier, Leonardo Nam, Alicia Sanz, and Maurice Compte. This looks very cool, I'm very curious to see more, and hopefully the reviews out of SXSW are good. The film is being presented by Steven Soderbergh, which is a good sign it's unique. Afm '12: Afterparty Promises Wild Parties and Lots of Blood: A Preview

The American Film Market is continuing to provide sneak peaks at upcoming horror and thriller titles. The latest to debut at this film event is titled Afterparty. This is a Spanish language film. It focuses on a group of friends who are just waking from a wild night out. They find themselves trapped in a "sinister house" (Afm). Now, they have no way out and the walls are closing in. The first film poster is here and this title will show at the Afm November 2nd and 5th. The graphic promises a killer with a knife and a group of unsuspecting victims.
